Oh yes its true colombia drew with Brazil a few months back but dont defend your argument on this case as almost all of the European based brazilians and argies really cant be arsed playing and like campbell are forever making excuses not to play- So p*ss off

i think rafa knows wat he is doing.. so far , his signings are value for money.. garcia, alonso, carson, moro, even josemi ( just mere 2 million ) so in rafa we trust.. even he will know , no point buying a english that is worth so much like crouch..
IMO crouch will be a gd player, but not more than 5 million to be fair.. if so, i will rather go find other better strikers for that price.. if we sell baros at 7 million, i dun think it is a fair deal .. if crouch is bought for 7 million.. baros was the golden boot winner.. crouch ? nth ...:O

It's more than speculation AB. Saints have confirmed that they turned down a bid for the player. It's been all over every newspaper, teletext and also the Liverpool Echo. Crouch will be a Liverpool player in the next week or so.

So some of you will have to get used to it. Have some faith in the manager.

For me the simple reason why I would say that Crouch is not good enough is that I am yet to see one person on here say that he will be anything other than a squad player.
For me, that simply isn't good enough. We've had squad players at Liverpool for far too long now. What we need are players who in all seriousness will be pushing to be first team regulars at the club and I can only see that happening with Crouch if Moro and Cisse are both out injured.

Also, 5 mil for a sqaud player is way too much imo. I would rather that 5 mil goes towards tying to tempt a decent player to come to Anfield instead of wasting it on someone who in all honesty I would say is not really any better than Pongolle or Mellor. The only thing he adds to the squad is someone who is good in the air. Well people, this is Liverpool, we play football not lump the ball into the box for the beanpole in the last 20 minutes of a game in the hope of getting something out of it. We have been on a downward spiral ever since we got Heskey for that precise reason, let's hope we've learnt from our mistakes !!

Was talking to me stepdad yesterday (who is a bitter) he was laughing and skitting about the prospect of crouch signing.
I agree with everyone that states he's not in the same league as Eto and the top European players, but a little perspective is needed.
If Crouch signs it will be as a different alternative to th etwo top euro strikers we already have. He will be on low wages and will be happy to be part of a squad rotation system which is surely a big factor.
To pay 7 million would be a joke agreed...thats typical of the Premiership, he should be about 4 million, i wouldnt go over 5.
People suggesting Kuyt for 11 mill
1) have you actually seen him play....or are you listening to paper talk ?
2) Would he settle for not being guaranteed first place an relatively low wage ?

Crouch for me is a mediocre player in a very poor squad - he is bound to look good because the rest of them are so dire.
He did nothing at all at Aston Villa and when playing in the EC for Norwich city he scored a few goals but did not look PL class.

He has had a very good season and 16 goals for a relegated side is a good tally - most of the top strikers aim for 15 league goals a season anyway.

He is better than some are saying but to my mind as EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS we need to be looking at better than this.

What Are you doing,Benitez?Start praying that he knows what he is doing and he will make a right choice.

i`d quite like him to come to anfield but not at that price.
a lot of people have fallen into the eleven superstars trap and think by buying a load of names we`ll have a side that will win the prem. players like veron, crespo, blanc, mutu etc have all been feted as world beaters but failed to adapt to the hustle and bustle of the english game, in fact though its early days it cant exactly be claimed that cisse and morientes have set the world on fire and a year ago these were probably two of the `proven quality` names everyone was clamouring for.
crouch to me would be a good link man and focus for our attack especially in those away games when our passing game wont get going and we need an out ball. he is much much better than heskey on the deck and i think some of you  need to get the old seventies video`s of keegan and toshack out to see how a skilled big man can be part of a title winning side. in fact only one english side has beaten barca on their own ground and that was us in 76, and the goal was scored by that useless lanky streak of :censored: that we bought from cardiff!!!

Slight inaccuracy there.Chelsea DID beat Barca 4-2 at Stamford Bridge. So there are 2 English clubs ever beaten Barca on home ground.

Of course,if you meant at Nou Camp,I dare not say anything in protest as I lack information.

He was referring to the Nou Camp (hence - Their own ground) Thomas

"On their own ground" means at the Nou Camp mate. The man makes a very fair point though regarding Crouch. I think he'll be a good player for us.

My sentiments exactly

Some good points there.  I think Crouch has looked great at times this season (especially against us at St Marys), but apart from the price, my only reservation is that he has only really had one good season.  That makes him too much of a gamble at 6-7mil IMO.
