LOL.

Lifes like that.

Fu.ck off mate, have you watched Liverpool in the last 5 yrs?

Smicer is possibly the worst player ever to wear the LFC number 7 shirt.

He cost 4 million, picked up at least 30 grand a week and did fu.ck all until his last game.  Where was he when we played all the 'lesser' teams in the league?  Hiding from the ball like he usually does.

Don't get me wrong, I was ecstatic when he scored in the final, but don't let 1 good game fool you.  The fact that he played so well in a european final makes me angry in a way, because that means he couldn't have been putting in 100% every week for the last 5 years.

The lads had some good games over the years John. You're being VERY harsh on him.

I remember the Basle match being the one he really did turn it on. He's played loads of good games, but as most have mentioned, he's been hit and miss and alot of the time when he hasn't played well he's simply dissapeared and its been like playing with 10 men.

Granted he done his best, sometimes it was good others it wasn't but now is the time for him to go. At the end of the day, he was worth the money we paid for him as he played a major part in the greatest night ever but he's not worth another contract.

A hero, always be welcomed back aswell, but times moved on and thankfully, so's vladi. :)

I hear wot you're saying Stu,

But I'm just trying to be consistent with my posts about Smicer.  The above is exactly what I thought of him before the champ lge final.

He pulled the performance of his life out of his ar.se somehow in that game, and I will always appreciate that, but I'm not gonna be swayed by one game.

He had 5 years to adapt to the prem and couldn't, and in all seriousness, can you think of a worse no.7 we've had?? (Kewell may run him close if he doesn't get his finger out of his ho.le soon mind)

I agree with Stu, the lad has always tried hard over the years but never really cut it at Liverpool.  In general his form has ranged from average to shocking.

Fair play to him though, he has never come out and moaned in the press, even after Rafa told him his contract was not to be renewed earlier on in the season.  He has always said good things about the city, supporters, the club set up and his team mates.

I know I and every other supporter in the ground will give him a great reception on his return to anfield, after his contribution in Istanbul and dignified exit from Liverpool FC

Good luck Vladi

I think he had loads of talent, but just couldn't get to grips with the physical nature of the prem on a regular basis. (This has probably already been said, but I haven't read all the posts!!!!!(ooops!!!!!):p

Leon, was Smicer really on 40k a week? I thought he was on 30k a week.

If that's the case, then he was one who had far too many starts by Houllier but was never effective enough on a consistent basis. He had always been touted as "the player who brings that extra spark" by Houllier but this has not been the case. Jari Litmanen should have been this but alas, was never given enough starting chances unlike Smicer. His performance in the final was "about time he finally came good" because he had 5 years too many and should have proven himself then but never did.

Thank you, Smicer and hopefully you have a good career eslewhere.

Yeah,I think he should go while Anfield history still records him in the category "HERO".Same with other players in the Final.EXCEPT Kewell.(Baros maybe because he dented the dup)
