Raul is class, world class, he would be a bargain for us for the next 5 years, linking up with his mentor, they will pip the goals for years to come, with Cisse helping out here and there, he's still young.

Real Madrid director of football Arrigo Saachi has told skysports.com that Liverpool have not made a move for Raul.

Speculation at the weekend had suggested Liverpool have approached Real with regards to their talismanic captain.

Despite capturing the UEFA Champions League in his debut campaign in English football, Rafa Benitez is already looking at reinforcing his ranks.

With the future of Milan Baros shrouded in uncertainty, a striker remains a top priority - with Benitez reportedly considering rekindling the relationship shared by Fernando Morientes and Raul in Spain.

However, Raul - despite having not produced his best form this season and having been usurped by Michael Owen in the striking pecking order - remains a firm favourite with the Madrid faithful.

The sale of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu's favourite son would be a risky move and Saachi insists that whilst the player remains under contract he will remain in the capital.

''Raul has a contract at Real Madrid and we have not received a proposition from them,'' Saachi told skysports.com.

Fuelling rumours of Raul's departure from his home-town club are suggestions that Real have reignited their pursuit of Internazionale's Adriano.

The prolific Brazilian has been strongly linked with a switch to The Premiership and Chelsea but reports from Italy have suggested a choice from Luis Figo, Walter Samuel, Guti, Michael Owen and Santiago Solari have been offered in part-exchange.

Inter coach Roberto Mancini is a firm admirer of Samuel and it would appear that if the two clubs are to concur on a deal then the Argentine hard man will be involved.

i dont think so. Im happy we've been linked with Raul, he'll come here and win titles, if he stays in Spain, he'll just be part of the ongoing political struggle with Madrid. What does a player want more? Winning trophies or being stuck in heated backroom arguments? Sod that, Im excited about Raul coming, you guys should be too, its a step in the right direction, even if it is only for 3-5 years, we would see success, and the younger players will be hungry to emulate it, cos they've seen what it takes to get to be Number 1.

Absolutely bloody right.

He is the highest ever goal scorer in Champions League history, and one of the best players in Europe for the last 10 years, and yet he is still only 27 (turning 28 in July).

Raúl was so fundamental in Real Madrid's 4 year period of European dominance from 1998 to 2002, winning 3 European cups.

Raúl has such GUTS, and is so technically gifted, with a furious hunger, desire and tenacity on the pitch, Raúl González Blanco is the REAL DEAL and is a DREAM captain, and a perfect example.

People that say negative things about Raúl haven't got a bloody clue, and definitely have not followed his career.

Though Raúl has had 2 poor last seasons with Real, it's no coincidence that those 2 poor seasons coincided with the departure of Vicente del Bosque, having 4 different coaches in 2 years, dealing with his marital problems, playing in 50 different positions, and being part of a ridiculous laughable Florentino Pérez system, which has included for example, in the 03-04 season, off loading 13 players and buying ONE so-called galactico, Beckham....

He is still young at nearly 28, and Latin players tend to go on forever anyway....

If Raúl came to Liverpool, I have no doubt that he would reignite the brilliance that made him one of Europe's finest....

raul would cost 20million at least and owuld a player of hsi calibre about to leave the price would be beyond us, from england alone arsenal and chelski would show interest let alone from italy. Not to mention that he recieves at least 100k a wekk from real which we cant offer. Anyway real madrid would never let their captain leave, they'd sooner let ronaldo or zidane leave than raul

He'll be with the guy that made Real a force back in the late 90's and early 00's. These two play together with such skill, and know each other's game like the back of their hands. It would be wrong not to go for Raul, and along with Mori, Alonso and Garcia is there, and he'll be coming to the European champion to defend the title with us. He will be a Liverpool player, mark my words. This rumour has me rubbing my hands, I can't wait!

I cant see Raul leaving Madrid, but he would be a good signing if he were to leave, as he oozes pure class. If we couldnt get him, with Real signing Robinho we should try and get one of their other strikers as there all class

jus imagine someone telling u last year under gh that next season there is a possibility of having a strike partnership of raul and morientes- unthinkably ridiculous. anyone saying they dont want him here for football reasons is frankly not worth engaging with. raul or fernando torres tho? ???? tight for me alhough both are perhaps still very unlikely but mouthwatering non the less
