We need to take advantage of some club`s precarious financial state eg Roma, Zaragoza
Christian Chivu would be a good buy as would Mexes,
Zaragoza have 4 very promising players - Galletti, Villa, Milito and Oscar.

Mexes had a disasterous season at Roma.....it'll take a lot for him to recover from that.

Chivu is an excellent player but again had an awful season (with injuries) at Roma.

Matthew Upson's Birmingham future is shrouded in uncertainty after he turned down a new contract at St Andrews.
And Upson's agent Barry Neville hinted the England defender may leave in search of European football.

He said: "We did speak to Birmingham about a new contract but Matt decided he did not want to accept it."

The 26-year-old has been linked with Middlesbrough, and Neville added: "I think Matt feels he needs to be playing in Europe."

I am happy to hear that Aimar maybe coming to the Reds but I have caution due to him being one of the most light weight players I have ever seen. Even Zola has more meat on him and is probably taller than Aimar. The reason I bring this up is to say, will he do in the Premiership? Who knows? As usual, we have to give him at least a season to settle in, get use to the pace and physicality of English Football, build up a little strenght and learn how to speak a little English. If we get him, it could take some time before all that happens.

I read in the irish independent that our budget will be 60million euro(£40million).

The Spanish goalkeeper linked with a summer move to Liverpool is today reported to have spoken of his admiration for the Reds and his respect for the player he hopes to replace at Anfield.
Villarreal number one Jose Reina has won many admirers this season for the role he played in helping his club achieve an impressive third place finish in La Liga and he's long been rumoured to be a transfer target of Rafael Benitez.

"Liverpool have always stood out for me because of their history," he is reported as saying on Sky Sports. "Manchester United had their time and now Chelsea are in fashion, but the club that had the biggest influence on me is Liverpool."

The former Barcelona keeper has played at Anfield twice before and he added: "I played against Liverpool in the UEFA Cup and we lost 1-0. Later we beat them in the Champions League 3-1. That game was spectacular because the fans applauded our goals and left a big impression on me."

Should Reina join the Reds he knows he'll have a big job on his hands to oust current number one Jerzy Dudek and he admits the big Pole is a player he has the utmost respect for.

"The Champions League Final was out of this world. I think every Spaniard wanted Liverpool to win and we all had a very nervous night. Dudek was one of the final's outstanding performers and deserves all the credit, not just because of the penalties, but for the saves he made from Shevchenko. I've never done any of the jumping around Dudek did on the line but it worked didn't it?"

Well this deal with Reina could be done and dusted already, I think it's just a matter of time before the club confirms it.

If its on LFC.TV then its a done deal, they never put anything on there unless its a cert, just look at the Nando rumour as an example. Was on here and other forums for weeks then a few days before he signed , it was mentioned on the official website

Not posted for a while, but just been watching sky sports news and the mirror are reporting that Raul has had 4 secret visits to Anfield and could be on his way.

Owen reccomended us to him and he is best mates with morientes.

Would we want him?

Raul - Very overrated IMO. Remember last summer he was linked with a £70million move to Chelsea LOL.
