being fair to kewell he was injured. its just his body language doesnt help.
i`d give him until christmas to prove himself, if he regains his fitness over the summer and play`s himself into a bit of form in the pre season maybe we`ll yet get to see the class player he was / is. he`s took a lot of stick in the press and when you`re on a personal low ebb that mustn`t help having fat @rsed fleet street journalists calling you lazy.it must seem to him the worlds against him.some people are making out he`s lording it up but i think he`s going through a bad time. i must admit it helps to be on 60,000 a week when you are going through rough patch.
there`s some players at the club you know will never be top class, but if harry does get back to the player who once waltzed around sol campbell and rio ferdinand like they were`nt there before cooly slotting it past seaman we`ll have one of the best left sided midfielders in the world.

Ok, i understand your logic, and where you Harry supporters are coming from. However, he has needed this surgery for more than 1 1/2 years now. Its no news to me that he has had surgery, he should have had it long ago.

The Italian Job 2005 wrote:I agree that Kewell has been a complete waste of space this season, but I think there are too many people over-eager to slate the guy.  Yes, on current form there is no way he should be in the Liverpool squad, let alone starting a game.  But don't forget that this is the same player that not too long ago Man U / Arsenal / Chelsea and Newcastle were all clammering to sign.  Kewell came to Anfield because he had given Houllier his word that he would and seemingly showed a real passion to play for us.  His form this season has been wrecked by injuries and if this clears up, next season he could be a real force.  We would all be gutted if we offloaded him and then he re-emerged as a world class player at a different club.  For about 4 years, Kewell showed real class at Leeds - a player does not simply lose ability like that over night.  I still have hopes that he will become the lightning winger/forward that we bought at a bargain price.

P.S. The reason you are all so :censored: at Kewell is because he has performed well below what we expected of him.  He has done no worse that say Diao or Diouf and was bought for far less.  He needs one more chance in my opinion to prove that he is worthy of wearing Red.

Harry has been very disappointing but some of this slating has been  just jumping on the bandwagon and way over the top
Same sort of :censored: as after the league cup final with all the Stevie G just scored his first goal for his new club and look at the way he greeted the chelski players
Hopefully he can bounce back after surgery and perform next season though if he cant we not get much from over loading him so its going to be a lose lose situation
Forever Red in this life and the next

Harry will have 5-6 months to prove himself...if he don't, he's out!  But come on folks, he's staying and lerts see if he can prove himself

He has the talent but as one journalist said, "has a heart the size of an ear stud".

We don't need this kind and he does not even compare with the likes of Robben or Duff or Kaka, but has been showing too much of a prima donna attitude. Ditch him at the earliest opportunity.

Now bearing in mind that i am a very one-eyed supporter of australian teams, sportsmen and women, i would like to share part of a story from Elvis Costello he wrote after that great night

"At 23 minutes, with the midfield being totally overrun and the Reds’ usually resolute defence looking vulnerable, Rafael Benítez’s big gamble finally paid off: Kewell pulled up. Now, Australian Harry may be a very fine human being but he has the misfortune of appearing to many fans as the epitome of the spoilt modern footballer who places his agent’s agenda ahead of that of the club.  The commentator reported that Kewell had “asked” to come off. In Liverpool folklore you do not ask to come off in a final . . . or any game, unless you are dead. For heaven’s sake, Gerry Byrne played 117 minutes of the 1965 FA Cup Final with a broken collarbone and still managed to set up one of the goals. In 1956 Bert Trautmann, the former German PoW and Manchester City goalie, played in the Cup Final with a broken neck. Did he complain or ask to be taken off? Did he heck. They didn’t even discover his injury until three days after the game. "

:censored: off Kewell to many coincidences

I agree with most peoples opinions on this, Kewells atitude and desire to play for the club have been shocking.
If Rafa decides to keep him i will support him..as i did when he was picked in the final, but he is taking the club for a ride in my opinion, and i really think that 60 grand a week could be better spent elsewhere.

He is a nancyfied pile of poop in my humble opinion. I'd still like to be proven wrong, though. I really thought he'd be brill when we got him. Come on you silly tart, stop banging the missus then your groin won't be so weak!!!! (Seriously, though, he looked like his dog had just died when he came off.) There's no way his injuries are fake, but I think he must have a low pain threshhold or something. We have to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I honestly don't think he'll come good for us. Form is temperary, class is perminent. I just hope being a wuss is temperary aswell!!!!! :D

Harry responds:

Harry Kewell has hit out at the British press for attempting to put a dampener on the greatest night of his career.
Kewell was a surprise starter in the Champions League final but lasted only 23 minutes before limping off with a groin injury which required an operation at the end of last week.

The Liverpool midfielder has had to contend with accusations of lying about his injury problems all season and now he feels the time has come for him to hit back, especially after some sections of the media criticised him for leaving the field in Turkey.

"The British newspapers have tried to ruin my celebrations by deliberately lying about my injury," he said. "But that's been going on for over six months, so it doesn't surprise me.

"What is important is that the best manager in the world had the faith in me to start me when noone else thought I had a chance.

"What started off as the greatest moment in my career turned into my greatest disappointment 17 minutes later.

"Fortunately my team-mates were able to turn that disappointment into the greatest final ever seen.

"As for the newspapers, they can keep writing their lies. Please do your worst as it only makes me stronger."

Kewell should leave Liverpool . He does not belong here. He should be lucky to share experience and learn how the Reds play. I just read today that Didi took the penalty with fractured leg.

Kewell has been under immense injury problem since he played for Liverpool. Where is his spirit of recovering or recouping whatever. Whether he is good or not, Liv cant afford injury prone players.

Kewell is a left winger but I can certainly tell you that Riise is better than him. Sharp passes and have powerful shots.

Kewell has been utised as a Striker/ supporting striker, to give striking force to Liverpool. But he is too bad for that position.

He cant play in the centre neither on the right. So what should we do with him. ?

Sell him and while he is worth something. we had paid a hell of alot for him .

Espionage and dawson99 .. nothing personal but I dont thinks you guys are looking from the right angle.

Team is important. If Kewell feels he is too good, he should prove it on the field. He has been taking too long time to recove.

Even Ciise fractured bone had reunited but Kewell's injury has not improved.
I wonder!

Actually I believe we only paid around £5mill for him thats not that much really.  Thats less than James Beattie!  I suspect he has had these injuries but there is either something that is going to be permanently wrong (ie. career ending injury) or he is doing something he's not meant to in the recovery process.

I read the same article el_stinger posted above.

Interestingly, if you notice, Kewell said that "What is important is that the best manager in the world had the faith in me to start me..." note the word 'best manager in the world'. Trying to grovel his way into the manager's good books, eh?
