I go along with Big Niall ,wouldn't expect us to be real contenders for the number 1 spot over the next couple of seasons but three seasons from now ? ,anything's possible . :D

I'm bored already ,roll on next season . :D

How much is a shoe string in your neck of the woods, Cisse (Benitez signed him not GH), Alonso and Morientes (not in CL though) cost about £30m. Add the other guys like Garcia and Nunez etc and its quite a chunk of cash especially when you add it to the cost of the other players.

I know it is less than Chelsea spent but still big money.

As a neutral (let's face it, West Ham ain't gonna be challenging you on League position) it's great to see Liverpool about to mount a serious challenge on the big three. If you BELIEVE something is possible, then it BECOMES possible. Liverpool have given everyone a boost by realising that if you BELIEVE you can ACHIEVE.

Congratulations on yesterday !
Good luck for the season.

Big Niall, I described our budget as "shoe string" compared to what Chelsea have paid out on Drogba, Carvalho, Johnson, Bridge, Bridge, Cole, Parker, Kezman, Duff, Cech, Tiago, Robben etc, etc over the last two years.  There is no comparison in the money spent between the two clubs yet we have the champions league cup at anfield.  My point is that surely that must bother Abramovich regardless of how wealthy he is.
