I'm not for one minute trying to put any gloss on the dismal inconsistency we've suffered this season and Houllier has to be held primarily responsible for just that, but no change in leadership will be made before the end of the season. Whether we qualify for the champs league or not the board will have a decision to make in the summer, the focus being whether finishing 4th or not is acceptable for a club this size. Obviously the answer is no! The next decision will be do they have faith in Gerard Houllier to make us into a championship challenging team as he did 2 seasons ago, will they be brave enough to ignite a new era? ultimately the board will have to make strong decisions! I do think Houllier is nearer the end than the start of his time in charge but i will never protest, boo, sign poxy petitions or write graffiti because Gerard deserves some respect for what he has achieved at the club.
Every fan has their own opinions and every fan knows that this season and last season we have seriously declined but the supporters will always offer support i'm sure as they did last night, THAT IS NOT BEING FICKLE!
I agree with Rob, no decision regarding Houlliers position will be made before the end of the season so we need to get behind the team now. I wouldn't go as far as singing Houlliers name or even praising him...but we don't need to give him stick week in week out. The board, the players and Houllier himself knows how we feel. They get the picture now...so really booing each week is fickle.
Bottom line is I want Houllier out...but not by bombarding the man with harsh criticism each week. Criticism can be very costructive to a point...but very demoralising as well. A good recipe for failure.
