Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'm gonna try an be as fair as possible and i was also :censored: :D . They aren't all gettin a 10 :D

Dudek - 8. Dodgy moments but some great saves and was the shootout hero. Hopefully his final season for us, will be remembered fondly if it is.

Finnan - 7. Didn't put a foot wrong second half and passed the ball well and gave us very good shape with the ball.

Traore - 7. Played well, got up and down the line well. Was at fault for two of the goals but improved in the second half as did the whole side.

Carragher - 8. Determination, heart, passion, attitude and spirit. Liverpool football club summed up in one player.

Hyypia - 8. Defended well all night, released the ball well and in general had a good game. Could have done better on the second goal.

Luis Garcia - 6. Didn't really get into the game but battled hard all match and wasn't sloppy in possession.

Riise - 7. Every blade of grass and set up the first goal with a superb cross second time of asking.

Alonso - 8. Nightmare first half, dictated the second and extra time.

STEVEN GERRARD - 9. MAN OF THE MATCH. Was the main driving force behind the team. His attitude for once was what i expected and he done what he's always been capable of. He inspired, let, motivated, battled, tackled, passed and drove his team forward. His best ever performance. More of the same please next season. To be honest, he's been a wierd player since he came through. He looked a :censored: hot prospect who performed every week. Then a class player who didn't perform, then a class player who did perform (last season) now he looks a world class player who hasn't performed (untill recently). He seems to step up a level when he doesn't have a great sesaon so next season i'm expecting massive things.

Kewell - 2. He turned up. :censored: off, don't ever want to see your horrible face again you mercenary. I've supported you through thick and thin, that was the final straw you frigging pussy. Its not even like you wanted to put up a fight to stay on.

Baros - 8. Against Stam and Nesta, battled superbly and wait for it... PLAYED A QUALITY PASS... this is Baros i mean... PLAYED A QUALITY PASS... hard to believe isn't it? into Gerrard's path for the penalty. Well in lad. Goodbye. :)

Subs:

Smicer - 8. What a way to bow out. Kept the ball well, used it intelligently, scored a cracker, scored his pen superbly and for his attitude, commitment and professionalism the other night will always be remembered fondly. Good luck Vlad.

Hamann - 8. Superb. Held the ball well, passed it well, won it even better. Was superb from the second he came onto the pitch.

Cisse - 6. Ran his balls off and scored a penalty. great stuff.

Can't give anyone higher than that as the reality was the first half was poor. However... We won, so :censored: it :D

can't argue with any of that, although I think you've been a bit generous to Kewell :D

It's sad to see players like Jerzy, Didi, Baros and Smicer play so well on possibly their last ever games in the Liverpool shirt, hats off to them and their commitment, bon voyage lads

As for Kewell? I'd happily march him out of the Shankly Gates by the scruff of his neck, kick him up the a*se and tell the lazy waster to f*ck off. Rightly jeered off the park in hopefully his last game for us

Dudek - 8. A few hairy moments, but some good saves and superb in the penalty shoot out. No one seems to be mentioning his stunning save from Shevchenko’s free quick

Finnan - 7. O.K

Traore - 7. Improved in the second half.

Carragher - 8. Sttuglled to cope in the first half but improved as the team did in the second.

Hyypia - 8. Same as Carraggehr.

Luis Garcia - 5. Very poor in my opinion. Lost the ball in dangerous areas and wasted it in good positions.

Riise - 7. O.K, good cross for Gerrard goal. Lost the ball a bit to often in the first half.

Alonso - 7. Was nowhere to be seen in the first half improved second.

Gerrard - 8. Poor in the first half, immense in the second.

Kewell - 5. Did O.K when he was on.

Baros - 7. Run a lot, but kept giving away unnecessary free kicks.

Subs:

Smicer - 8. Used the ball well and scored.

Hamann - 8. Missed him badly in the first half, does the simple things better than anyone else in the squad, hardly ever loses the ball or plays an awkward pass and keeps it on the floor

Cisse - 6. Ran around, all he could do in the situation

You lot....
you must have been stoned....

Dudek - 9

Moments of brilliance, paired with some mix ups and errors. But he is now a LFC legend after that save from Shevshenko and his penalty heroics

Finnan - 5

A really bad game. Directly responsible for one goal. Made positioning and passing errors. He was terrorized for 45 minutes. Maybe it had something to do with an injury, I don't know. But this was a poor performance from Finnan.

Carra - 7

Bad first half. Brilliant after that. Sacrificed everything for the team.

Hyypia - 5/6

Was completely terrorized by quick and technical Milan players throughout. Credit for winning a lot of headers when Milan piled up the pressure. When LFC started defendin deep in the last half hour and Hamann patrolled in front of him he looked better

Traore - 6

A wild card he is. Volatile display. Highs and lows from start to end. Wouldn't mind having a more consistent player at left back.

Garcia - 6/7

Ran his sox off as always. Very good at timing his runs and reading the game. With a bit of luck he could have had a goal or two.

Gerrard - 9

Instrumental in the comeback after the break. Started to operate more freely after Hamanns introduction. Played RB for a while when LFC was dead tired and he made Serginho look average.

Alonso - 8/9

Incredible second half. Good passing, but above all really fine defensive display. He close down opponents and deny them space like no one else. A true chess player midfielder

Kewell - 5

Why bother.

Riise - 6/7

Played 60 minutes with cramps and a pulled muscle. A superb assist and a good professional hard working display

Smicer - 8

A magnificent way to end his LFC career. Dida could never stop him from scoring that goal. Kept cool and converted a penalty. Kissed the shirt. Held the ball up well and his experienced calm head was pivotal in the game.

Hamann - 9

He has the ability to make other people shine. And that was exactly what he did. He made Hyypia and Carra look 10 times better. And he gave Gerrard and Alonso the opportunity to play their game. Hamann has been LFC's best midfielder ever since he came here from Newcastle. What he bring to the team is hard to replace. He is our Makalele, our Keane and will be almost impossible to replace.

Baros - 7/8

Did what I expected him to do. Kept the Milan defenders busy and tired their legs. His stamina is out of this world. Unfortunately he has not been a big goal treath lately and that may cut his LFC career short.

Cisse - 6/7

Still short on match fitness. Hopefully the real Cisse will come out next year. Wonderful dance movements on the podium!
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.

Agree pretty much with your assesment but Traore was 'fkin; awful .OK he did get back and blocked a dead cert on the line ,he also made six consecutive no pressure passes straight to Milan players  . Wouldn't give him more than a 5 and thats only 'cause he blocked a certain goal.
Time to get rid of Traore and promote Warnock to more regular appearances.

Dudek-8
Brilliant in the last 40-45 mins of the entire game however again suspect until cisse came on for some reason that substitution seemed to posess the man. Stupendous 2 blocks against sheva!!

Finnan-5
It's a shame, but fair!!

Carragher-8
Definetly not as imposing as the quarters or semis but got better (much better) as the game went on!!

Hyypia-8
Same as carra!!

Traore-5
Shocking first half, great block!!! but very average over all, he just offered to little goin forward but got more composure after the first half.

Garcia-6
Had at least 3 great chances to test Dida failed to impose himself throughout simply by losing the ball to much, although i did feel ancelotti was wary of his threat and attempted to close him down at any cost.

Kewell-3
You claim to be a liverpool supporter, with the golden oppertunity to represent us in European Cup FINAL!! How black is your heart???

Alonso-8
Poor first half but i kid you not second half stayed cool and inspirational for our comeback !!

Gerrard-9 (Man of the Match)
After the first half, What can i say? Are you the next christ ???

Baros-7
Believe you me you did everything that i asked for, but simply couldnt find the net..shame good performance!!!

Riise-7
Not a winger however played well, never stopped running, great cross for stevie and unlucky not to have got a winner!!

Smicer-8
You will never be forgotten for that heroic performance im proud to say you represented this club. Good luck to you and your family!!!!

Hamann-9
Made the you guns shine!! In LFC  we all know where the credit is due, SUPERB you simply tucked Kaka, Seedorf, Pirlo in that pocket of yours and dictated the game brilliantly... if he does leave i will cry.........STAY!!

Cisse-6
Made little impact although the threat of his pace kept MIlan wary and thier defence were unable to push forward as they would have liked, good penalty.

Rafa the chosen one, you will undoubtedly become a king one day!!!!

Give credit where its due milan were fantastic and one day shall be worthy champions again!! but this moment is LFC's triumph

I agree, Traore was pretty poor and just hasn't been good enough in the League.
