After a night of passion, tears of dissapointmentand then the tears of joy the future needs to be decided. With a few players heading out the door and new players coming in our squad does realistically need to be strenghtaned.

Anyone got an idea of who will go and who will join the european champions!!!!

I think we definatley need 2 world class wide players, either Vicente, Sean Wright Phillips, Joaquim - 2 of these 3 would do and with the revenue of winning the CL we may be able to afford them, along with new sponsership and money from selling the dead wood, god knows what kind of spending figure Rafa will have. From buying 2 of these players JAR will play in his preferred role at left back. We look like we have sealed the deal with Reina and we could do with a quality young speedy centre back.
If we keep hold of Hamman and maybe bring back Diarra we will have the best centre midfield probably in Europe with good replacements. As for forwards we will have cisse, Garcia Morientes and Pongolle with i think Baros leaving, which i think is strong enough.

Altogether we probably need around £30-35m total funds, if we get 15m for sales of players (Baros, Biscan, Diou Diouff and a few more) that leaves around £20m.

we need new players for all areas....and as European Champions, we should be able to bring them in.

Mourinho won the Uefa Cup in 2003, the Champions League in 2004 and the Premiership in 2005.
Benitez claimed the Uefa Cup in 2004, the Champions League in 2005 - what odds on him matching Mourinho's hat-trick?  :eyebrow

As far as I know, they are the only two managers in history to lift two European cups back to back.

Our squad still very much lack in depth as could be seen from many performances this season. Apart from that 6 minutes last night, I thought we were still rather poor throughout and let Milan control the game too much. It seems like we must resort to a 451 formation as Alonso and Gerrard could not handle defensive work. This would also mean we lack firepower up front.

I think Jose did it earlier on. Won UEFA cup with Porto, then Champions Leauge next season with Porto again.

:D  :D Benitez has already got his hat trick because before winning the UEFA Cup he had won the Spanish League with Valencia. That means that our coach is going to improve Mou's achievement by winning the Premiership next year.
