Were by far the greatest team - The world has ever seen.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby 84-1106852058 » Wed May 25, 2005 7:47 am

Wherever Liverpool fc play they are followed by the greatest fans in the World.
I know at times Anfield can be a bit quiet, but this is a common occurence at all football stadiums since the introduction of all seater stadiums.Liverpool fans the most voiciferous supporters you are likely to come across.Chelsea scoffed at the so called 12th man and rued the day.Rafa himself has been amazed at the passion we have for this club. The genius of the flag and banner makers is looked upon in awe by supporters of other clubs, and the wit and humour envied by many.

No matter what David Moyes might think this really is the peoples club.Founded at the Sandon pub,200 yards from the Kop in 1892 when the original
club had a dispute over rent and decided to leave Anfield and move to Goodison park.If you get a chance call into the Sandon, there is a plaque on
the wall that commemorates this momentous occasion. The new club Liverpool AFC was formed with just 3 players and a handful of loyal supporters.A club for the fans owned by the fans.

In 1959 Bill Shankly was appoointed manger and led this club from the wilderness into the promised land.He was treated like the Messiah by the addoring Anfield hoards.Even now more than 30 years after Bill left the club, his face adorns banners flags, hats and scarves. The rappure Shanks had with the fans has continued to this day with our present manager, sharing a glass with Liverpool fans in a German bar.

Succsess has alluded us in the league for far too long, but not once has our support waned. The waiting list for season tickets never gets any shorter.
Nor has our belief, that we will be restored to our rightful place as Kings of Europe.

On this the anniversary of our first European Cup win,we play our most important game for 20 years, our 6th European cup final backed by an estimated 40,000 fans.Win lose or draw, you can be assured our magnificent fans will be 100% behind the team.

When you walk through a storm,Hold your head up high,

We have walked through the storm,With our heads held high,

And dont be afraid of the dark,At the end of the storm theres a golden sky,

  We fear nothing,

And lets hope tonight we get our golden sky.

   VIVA BENITEZ.

quality post baron but nothing less than expected.

id ike to ada a bit about the ooters. Weve takena lot from the gooners and cheatski and manure fans that abide in london and we've always held our heads up, proud of who we support and also knowledgable about football (think recently a pole showed that liverpool fans were on average a lot mroe intelligent about football than otehr fans)

now tonight i will be in my full get up, ready as always to cheer on the team, win or lose i will hit the booze (we will win)

apparently Ueffa will get into loads of trouble with the Champions league sponsors if we're not in it next year.  As winners, we get sponsorship contracts tied with being the best team in Europe

propblem is, the sponsors are not happy, why should they pay a team millions in Champions league sponsorship when they aren't inthe comp?  I expect to see us allowed in or see Euffa end up with problems with the likes of Ford, Amstel and the rest of the companies who pay millions every year.

Here we are 5 days later and the stupid grin is still on my face.Another night of glory that made grown men weep, the sick feel better and the old feel younger. In the words of Frankie Valley; Oh What A Night.

Ever since the Chelsea game the question on everyones lips has been ;Can we beat Milan? Imust have been asked this a hundred times ,and asked it myself another hundred times. Not once did I hear a negative response.Once again our brilliant fans refused to even consider defeat.Iwasnt lucky enough to be in Turkey last week, but those I spoke to who were all mentioned the same wonderful moment,a half time rendition of Youll Never Walk Alone cascading from the stands.
Those fans who like us at home, were shattered by the events of the first half sung it with gusto and with hope in their hearts.Proving once again that our team Will never walk alone and are supported by the greatest fans in the World.

Back in Liverpool that 6 miniute spell in the 2nd half removed the black cloud that had hung over us since the first miniute was blown away and it was buisness as usual Of course we will beat Milan.Dudeks save signaled pandamonium,I wittnessed men women and children all in tears.Tables of beer were sent flying to a casual shrug of the shoulders of the owners were usually you would be lucky to get away with just replacing it.

I didnt leave the pub until about 4.30 am but outside the streets were still full of revellers dancing and singing it was like the middle of the afternoon.It took me about an hour to walk home,with strangers coming up to me to embrace,shake hands or even to sing a song with me.When I did eventually get home it was time to do what we all should do;

THANK GOD WE ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO SUPPORT LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB.

AND THANK GOD FOR RAFA BENITEZ.

We're now a week into bein European Champions. Theres another 51 to go, and if every week feels this good, its gonna be a hell of a year. I still remember the feeling of elation after '77, the awesome sight of Kenny in '78 chippin the Bruges 'keeper. Waitin in '81 and '84 for miracles to happen, so this one.......it'll live forever i swear. I got the papers from las Thursday for my boy (he's 10 months old) to read about it, to be read it at bedtime, whenever.
We've spent the best part of the last 18 months, maybe more, under the 'threat' of big players leavin the club, so maybe thats gonna change now. Rafa's turned the club round a wee way, got it at least pointin in the right direction if not firin on all cylinders, and I see next season as a step up for us. I still don't quite see the Premiership title for '05/'06 bein ours, but i feel its a lot closer. Great teams take a while to mature properly, but take some stoppin when it happens....this team is gonna be ripped open we hear by Rafa to bring in better players and we have to trust the main man. Theres people on here questioned his judgement a few times this season, they too have to trust him. Together, fans/players/manager (maybe not in that order of importance, tho lets not question our part!!) we can take this club back to the heights once enjoyed. And this time we have a challenge from within our own country, a challenge not there for the large part of our success in the 70's and 80's so its gonna be fun, hard work and heartbreakin maybe once or twice. But we can do it. It took the mancs more than two decades to win the league, it took the @rse a few borin 1-0 seasons to get there, but both held it for a while. Neither could take the grasp we had before the nineties. Chelski can win it again next year without a doubt, the cash is there to almost buy goals when needed, but thats part of the challenge. Beat the money, take the mancs like we used to. Show the @rse that their las season at Highbury aint gonna be a pleasure.
We take this one step further, get the PL inside 3 years, maybe win the CL again, people are gonna take notice. More notice than they took of those 3 put together, cuz this clubs an institution - winnins what we're about.
Theres been various numbers banded about since las Thursday's parade - between half a million and one and a half million people dependin on what you read. With those people came passion, hope and elation, far outstrippin that of CFC, MUFC and AFC could hope for. Too many new fans at CFC, their choice - free world, support who you like and all that. No passion, little pride and different team shirts when the money runs out. Almost the same with MUFC. Again, lots of fans that dont recall their struggles, life in the old division one and all that. And AFC attract any Londoner that needs an excuse for a drink before Chelski came along, no-one else in the capital could win anythin!! We are different.
We remember Shanks and Bob Paisley. We remember where it started in the 60's and carried on thru to the nineties. And, whether you like him or not, we can remember Houllier as  the manager of the Treble winnin team. And all as supporters too. Now Rafas gonna be immortilized as the CL winner, somethin we wouldnt have dreamed of jus 12 months ago. Winnin. Winners. But above all, spirit, passion and pride.
We have the greatest fans in the world as far as club sides go, I have no doubt about that. We have the best known and loved ground from within the British Isles, even Old Trafford comes second to Anfield and The Kop. We have the best memories of any British club, ever.
Greatest Team? Maybe not quite there, but its comin......of that I'm convinced. As is the Premiership and a host of other titles with it.

The anthem rings true for the past, present and future for this great club, in perhaps a way many other clubs fans thought had outlived itself, but I'm proud to say it, sing it, preach it,

                                                                                                             YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE

Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road
