I would just like to offer thanks to Vladi, after possibly the greatest night in our glorious history, for a great professional performance last night.
He has taken a lot of stick from lot's of people, but last night he will be remembered for a great performance in his last game for the club.
What made it so great for me, was the fact that he was the one player out there who knew his future was definately over for Liverpool and that this could well be his last game for the club. But rather than go missing, which let's face it would have been the easier option, he stood up to be counted and possibly played his best game in a red shirt. He really looked like he wanted to sign off by paying us fans back with one great performance in a red shirt.
On a night where Kewells commitment could be questioned, I know he was probably injured quite bad but for me he looked completely uninterested the second he picked up the knock and just wanted to come off the field rather than try to soldier on in possibly the most important game of his life, the player who replaced him quite clearly simply wanted to give his all in our most important game in years. Vladi was possibly the only player out there who had nothing to play for other than pride and thankfully he chose to play for pride and had a great impact on the game.
Now, before I get shot out of the water for this for letting the emotions of the night cloud my judgement, let me point out that I still don't think he's good enough for 80% of the premiership games therefore he should still be leaving the club in the summer. I would however not be unhappy if he stayed for another year as he has shown that he has a calm head when it comes to european nights on more than one occassion and doesn't give the ball away cheaply in europe, which cannot be said about his performances in the prem. He would however still prove to be a valuable squad player if only for use in europe.
The one thing which cannot be questioned about Vlad however is his love of the red shirt and the fans and last night he was worthy of the red shirt. If anything, he at least now deserves our respect for his excellent attitude last night.
Thanks for your service and all the best for the future Vlad !
I still can't beleive that we won last night ! It was an amazing performance all round and we have finally taken back what was rightfully ours ! Bring on the premiership next season !!!
