answer. they've all had one exceptional season and suddenly they're the best thing since sliced bread. ok crouch has done well, but to suggest that he's suddenly good enough for us is ludicrous.

The thing about Crouch is you wouldn’t expect him to get 20 goals a season, the other players are solely goal scorers. He is the sort of 'target man' that Rafa likes, he is able to play with his back to goal and is good on the ball.

Now I'm not saying that Crouch is a great player, but we need a striker to provide backup to Cisse and Morientes, and buying British and buying from the Premiership is always the first port of call. If we get him for less than 5MIL he would be worth getting.

I think I'd be happier if we looked into signing Dean Ashdon from Norwich rather than any of those guys. I really think he has the potential to become a quality premiership player. Anyone have any views?

i rate ashton very very highly, and always have done ever since i saw him break through at crewe a few years back.

to me, he has all attributes of a young alan shearer, i.e. he's not the quickest but he's strong, good in the air, has a great touch and is a clinical finisher.

it'll be interesting to see if he stays at norwich or not. i get the impression that he might stay but if he does go, i'm sure they'll be a host of clubs in for him.

Just read in today's Mail that Liverpool have failed (yes, failed!) in their bid to buy Portsmouth midfielder Gary O' Neil.  They may now offer Salif Diaou AND Cheyrou in part exchange.
Gary who?  WTF?  Don't remember him from our game at Fratton Park.  Checked his stats and he's very ordinary. This is surely bullsh*t paper talk.  Someone please reassure me.

That's what I love about this forum. The intelligent and reasoned debate just makes you itch to log on and have a look.

nah. i really hope bent stays at goodison.

the sight of seeing everton fans walking around with "bent" on the back of their shirts is quite appropriate.
