Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Expat » Wed Feb 25, 2004 6:11 pm

Hi All Loyal L.F.C. Supporters.
I am new to these messageboards but have been a loyal supporter for the last 30years.
I've read with great interest the  comments posted, about G.H. many of which I agree with and some that I don't.
I have come to the conclusion that the only way I can show my annoyance?frustration is to stop going to the games whilst he is in charge.I know this is costing me dearly but I will not step inside the ground again until he has gone.
It goes without saying that I will not be renewing my season ticket for the "2004-2005 season if he is still in charge.

Expat - I hope that was slightly tongue in cheek mate.

We've all justifiably got a big axe to grind about the GH regime but not renewing your season ticket is too much of a sacrifice, afterall, even if he stays til the start of next seaon (please no!!), Houllier will be gone before long and then you'll be left on the never-ending waiting list like me. I got to the top of the list for the 95-96 season but couldn't take it up due to circumstances at the time, boy do I regret that now.

At least if you don't want to go to the ground sell it to me... :D

Exactly what I will be doing mate, I wont go to the games or even watch them on TV or even read about the club while Houllier remains in charge.
I have had enough now thats how strongly I feel about this.

Looking at the attendance figure for the cup game against Portsmouth then perhaps more people are thinking the same.
Normally you might expect a lowish crowd to follow in the game against Sofia but the club have been quite clever in promising that those fans who have attended the previous 3 home games will get priority for the next round ( should we make It )
The attendance and crowd reaction will be interesting.

Now now lads calm down.  Dignity and sensibility is what Liverpool fans are renowned for.  Liverpool is a great club and in many ways this whole saga is reinforcing just how professional The board are.  If it was Ledds we be having a phone in by now.  Man U the stock market would have got him out, infact this whole bussiness is being handled very well from within Anfield.  Houllier is dilusional if he thinks he's staying put.  Even with the champions league place there will be a major re-think come the summer.

I would also ask everyone to get the frustration out of their system or put is aside, tomorrow we beat the Bulgarians.  Remember Show disaffection with dignity and grace a simple poster telling Houllier its not good enough. The players need us, many of them will be about long after Houllier lands back in Charles de Gaule Airport.  The scummy Manc fans are the p#ss head animals out there not Liverpool fans.

Whatever happened to "Through the Wind and the Rain ? " ??? Its your call I suppose but boycotting and giving up season tickets is a bit extreme in my opinion . And its exactly that (opinion) , i happen to thi k the current ongoing reaction is  little extreme and some things i thought I'd never see have happened this seaon. 1. A banner criticising GH in the ground (Poor show in my opinion, if your not happy with Houlier wite him a letter but making a banner ????? SKY, BBC loved that little petulant act and the papers have been printing it for fun so well done LFC "Supporter" ??? 2. Graffitti scrawled on the training ground wall - its all gettinga  bit over the top if you ask me . OK Houllier has to go but what happened o the livewrpool Way and a little respect. the dream has died and the shows nearly over for GH but people could afford the man a little more respect particularly as he nearly died trying!!!!! .....Wlak on .....

Dalglish, I think the fans who put the banner up at the game are entitled to do so as long as it shows respect for the other fans in the ground.  People pay to watch liverpool, the paying public should be able to make a protest either prior to a game or after it, which I think the two fans that were evicted from the ground were doing.  The acted sensibly and appropriately and should continue to be able to veiw their opinions in a respectful manner.
As for the imbeciles who wrote on the walls at Melwood.  They're not Liverpool fans I suspect some Manc's had nothing to do so drove down to Liverpool and wrote that cr#p up.  Whoever wrote is not helping the legitimate debate about Houlliers future and unlike Thor I believe that the fans as the 'bread and butter' of the club have as much right as the board and owners to air their views.  Houllier should do a Shankly and go and meet the fans.  If he met a delegation of season ticket holders they could air their veiws and he could make his point.   I personally have always said that he's arogant and I base that on what ex-players have told me and what has been written.

One more think Someone here posted a thread a few months back about the easy ride Houllier gets from the media.  I think that was an accurate assessment I belive the media give him an easy timeand in many ways print stories which are propoganda in essence.  These same rags would have the head of any England manager long ago if he'd a similar record to Houllier.  Sir Bobby Robson done an outsatnding job for England yet the press slaughtered him.  Now he's a legend in their eyes.  I don't read the Sun, but you can't help hearing from some idiots whats wrote in it and I wonder if the ba#ta#ds are supporting him to either endear themselves with some fans or are they sticking two fingers up at those of us who don't read it.  Its a bit likethe Manu Fans whosay Houlliers doinga good job, for Man U and Arsenal he bloody well is.  13 games to go 26 points behind enough said.

Evicted ? Are you absolutely Sure on that one Big Al ? We heara  lot on here about people right to have an opinion and its often used to defend themselves or to try and shut someone else up. however I was expressing MY opinion and its one that clashes with theirs. Liverpool Fc have always (IMO) had a good image in terms of fan base and support for their club and this act was seized on by the media and shown all over the world. Whilst I agree they are entitled to express their views it was a little naive on their part  not to expect a backlash and a media frenzy or was that their true intention anyway ?

This freedom of expression ? Where does it stop ? Pitch invasions , Boycotts, Hate Mail, Assassination attempts !!!!!

I've read a lot in here on GH and a lot of it has bordered on hysteria and the personal attacks and insults are beyond the pail. I know its NOT just about last Sunday but this was LFC's FIRST defeat of 2004 !!!!!!!

When you get the ball, I want you to beat a couple of men and smash the ball into the net, just the same way you used to at Bury," said Shankly. Lindsay replied: "But Boss that wasn't me, it was Bobby Kerr." Shankly turned to Bob Paisley and said: "Christ Bob, we've signed the wrong player."
