Kop, i know a good player when i see one.

He's decent, don't get me wrong. Good enough to be a squad player at any team in the country, but to suggest he's anything like first team material at LFC is just wrong.

Maybe Spurs or Boro or Everton. Us? You must be joking.

Someone brought up Kevin Nolan previously in this thread. To me he would be an ideal buy as cover for our midfield, the lad's got a bit of bite, knows how to play in big games (his performances against us and Utd are testament to this).

Bolton haven't achieved 6th by coincidence, particularly given the fact that Okocha hasn't been as good as last season and that you need a tough, combative midfield to perform in the League. Benitez is a firm believer in a rotational policy and for mine Nolan would be a great rotational player for us in the Premier League.

We could maybe even use Diouf as a bit of bait in the deal to lower the cost.

I like Nolan - would happily swap the lad for diouff. He plays with a bit of fire, skillful too, and scores a few goals plus he's scouse.

I doubt theres a British player available offering value for money. Foreign managers talk about their desire to buy British but unless you can afford the cream theres no value beyond that crop. Rafa will look but take his money overseas. I dont think we will sign any players from Britain.

I don't buy that Parch - It's a viscous cirlcle. Managers don't want to buy British coz that generally means buying from a league below Premiership level. They want proven players with some pedigree of playing in a nation's top division. Consequently, top flight English football is full of foreign talent and the transfer prices of English players (which are considered desirable - in a footy sense!) have sky-rocketed.

Just look at some of the dross that has been shipped in from abroad over the last 10 years. There seems to be a mentality among managers, the press and fans that English players doing the business in the championship and below are simply not good enough for 'this club'.

Tottenham have gone out and bought a lot of young British talent over the last 12 months with the likes of Robinson, Dawson, Reid, Huddlestone & Davenport. Hopefully it will work for them and we might see a few other teams follow suit.

I'm not saying any club should buy British players simply coz they are British but get fed up of everyone jumping on the 'he plays in the 1st division so will never be good enough bandwagon'. Just look at Rob Earnshaw - Big Mick got lambasted on here for suggesting the lad (i was one of the many culprits!) but he has matched Baros' goal tally in half a season playing subs for a Bryan Robson team!

Would you swap Bruno Cheyrou for Kevin Nolan? Thas a toughie......

it makes me laugh when people seriously suggest us signing the likes of routledge, ashton and johnson.

players from relegated teams would be good players for mid table teams with some of them being good squad players for challenging teams. but the likes of chelsea arsenal or utd wouldn't touch any of them with a barge pole so why should we?

agree though about jermaine pennant. i think the lad's class. he literally tore everton to shreds a few weeks back.

We won't get Wright-Phillips, but we do desperately need a right winger.

I wonder if it's worth taking a look at Darren Huckerby. He's a proven Premiership performer, has bags of skill and pace, and he's versatile enough to lead the line were we ever unfortunate enough to find ourselves with all our strikers crocked again. His form went down the toilet mid-season, but for me he was one of the better players in the division up until Christmas.

If you want english, put danny murphy in midfield. If you want quality play xabi alonso.

A lot of guys are so desperate to sign british that they come up with huckerby, johnson, routledge and nolan. Relegated sh!t. Proven losers.

Do you honestly believe LFC will sign those guys?
Do you honestly believe LFC can challenge for top prizes with players like that?
Do you honestly believe those players can make LFC a better team?

The obvious answer is NO

Then please shut @p and let Benitez do his work. If british talent are going to play for LFC, we have to produce that talent by ourselves in the academy.
