i think wright-phillips, king and bridge, would be three quality players who are possibly available and could help improve our squad, not sure on their transfer fees though.

What was the Souness skin colour jibe (did signing Mark Walters make him racist :D )

I mean, for a Rangers manager to buy MO JOhnston (a catholic) from Celtic showed he mad football decisions (albeit poor ones)

Wright-Phillips won't leave Man City, as Pearce will have filled his head with the "we're going to be big next season" bullsh*t. He's said he wants to stay, and to be honest, he hasn't been hitting the heights recently.(Compared with earlier in the season). Rafa will get quality for pennies, and long may that continue! Up the 'pool!

Well unless and untill Morientes dramatically improves I personally would much rather have Smith. FWIW (and I know it's not much) I think he's a very good player. People dismiss him as a thug but while he is a tad robust at times, he's also a good footballer as well in my view.

I'd like to see Woodgate in a Liverpool shirt, failing him I'd chase Led King. I have a feeling Evra and Van der Vaart will be at Anfield next year too.

To all Woodgate-lovers. When was the last time he was able to play football? Maybe we need a player actually capable of staying injury free and playing football.

English players are suffering in exactly the same way as English managers. The big teams in this country won't take a chance on an English boss because they don't have any experience with a top team or champions League pedigree. Its the same with players.

The financial pressures in football are now so great that virtually every signing MUST be proven at the top level whether its in this country or not.

While i don't think many of the players on spiralstairs list are of the quality this club needs i do tend to agree with some of his sentiments.

To everyone claiming that having English players does not matter. Would it bother you if we had no English/British players? I know i prefer to have a few brits (preferably scousers) playing in the same team.

to be fair 'super Dan' seriously was found wanting in his last season at Anfield, low on confidence and lacking in touch.

Shaun Wright Phillips would make a great Liverpool player, he has played pretty well for City at Anfield in the past.

Woodgate is a fantastic player, looks very composed on the ball, but like any player who has been seriously injured (Scott Parker included) even when they are fit, it is gonna be a gamble purchasing them.  I think we would need to wait for him to prove his fitness over at least half a season after his comeback, then we should move in.  The disadvantage there is that 1) we might not be able to wait that long and 2) if we do wait that long and he does prove his fitness, with a player of that standard, there is every chance that his price will go up

What we got here is a failure to communicate...

You live in a world full of love and flowers whereas i live in a world of greed and chaos. In your world players will stay injury free and contribute, in my world some injured players are (not able to play regularly for 2 years) a no-way-never risk.

Anyone concerned that Woodgate has been convicted for his part in racist attacks.

I wouldn't want him no matter how good/injury free he is. LFC is better than that.

he wasn't convicted.   But agree about his record with injury....Newcastle must have snapped Real's arm off when they offered that amount of money....15 million wasn't it?

I wouldn't have Woodgate, he hasn't kicked a ball for Real yet and he's been there a year!

Shaun Wright Phillips would be a great player and probably be more value for money than Joaquin.
