Cl striker baros vs cisse - Who would you start and why!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

What reasons can you give for starting Baros?

What reasons for Cisse?

Personally I  can't think of any reasons to start Baros he falls down every time he gets the ball, hasn't scored in months and has a bad attitude.  Baros's lack of ability/desire to pass the ball allows the defenders to focus on him, 99% of the time resulting in him falling down losing the ball.

For Cisse , he passes the ball well, bringing other players into the play allowing us the opportunity to split the defense.  He is not afraid to shoot and has a rocket of a shot, I get the feeling that if he is in close he'll not hesitate to hammer the ball into the back of the net.

Cisse is more aware of the fact that football is a team game.  He wants to win for the team, not just for himself.

Cisse is faster than Baros.

:buttrock

The entire team plays better when Cisse is on the pitch.

That said we got all the way to the CL finals with Baros as our striker, do you think he is some sick sort of good luck charm. :lookaround

I think i'd go with Cisse.

He played really well against Arsenal the other day when he came on and changed the game for us. He started bringing midfielders into play, looked lively and shown touches of potential.

He helps the side keep the ball better than Baros does aswell. Baros often loses the ball through selfish play, indecisiveness and lack of awareness of whats around him.

However Baros runs his balls off more often than not, causes problems for defenders and pulls them into wide positions.

Maybe even both of them.

Lets face it, Gerrard and Alonso are two of the best central midfielders in the world and with Riise and Luis Garcia on either side its a strong midfield.

Having in mind Baros recent comments I'd go for Cisse.
He's better on the pitch and he's got motivation to get back into form, than Baros who's already thinking about leaving England.

With a really slow, old Milan defence, I think we have to play them both, running in different directions and pulling there defence apart for Garcia to strike from midfield
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Slow Milan defence?

Have you ever actually watched Milan play? ???

Nesta, Stam, Maldini and Cafu are all over 29, but the last thing ANY of them is is slow.

Get a clue.

Baros

Unlike Cisse he is match fit. He has also proved to be a handfull for most defences in Europe.

I have a feeling he could cause Stam problems and turn him like the PSV lad did.

We will only play one up front  unless its late and we're behind. Play 5 in midfield and try to control the game.

Unfortunately Cisse is a player for next season probably not this one (hopefully he'll score the winner and prove me wrong)

Has to be Baros as Cisse won't last 90 mins in all probablity. If we're behind then we'll need 'em both on so Baros has to start. As to who looks the most likely at the moment it's Cisse hands down and if we had another striker to call on I'd start with him but we haven't so it's Baros.

Think Rafa will start Cisse against Villa and then we'll all know alot better if he's ready.  Really fancy Cisse to score at the weekend.  He's looking sharper with each outing.  The fact that Baros falls over alot, loses the ball alot and most annoying ... never looks up, really worries me against a defence like Milan's (i.e total class).  Also, he's lost the most precious thing a striker needs - confidence.  He's very short on goals lately.  No good.  No good for us to have someone like that up front. I think Cisse is a more intelligent footballer, works more for the team (without doubt) and has a far far better attitude (beyond doubt).  He's also seriously up for it and has been on about his dream of scoring in the CL final as the perfect comeback.  I just get a feeling ...

this will be the team that will start the game. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work it out.

                                  dudek

          finnan        hyypia     carragher     traore

                  hamann     alonso     gerrard

          garcia                                        riise

                                  baros

cisse did indeed look sharp against arsenal but i just don't think it's worth the gamble of throwing him on from the start in the club's biggest game in 20 years. he'd be a devastating substitute though in the last 20-25 minutes.

i think it would be a fairytale if he came on and scored the winner. :buttrock

Yeah - its easy to dream of the hollywood ending where Cisse comes off the bench to score a late winner. Unfortunately life isn't like that, if it was I'd be with Angelina Jolie.

yeah.  fair point.  unless cisse scores a hatrick on Saturday and at fulltime starts asking the crowd for a kickaround, five-a-side, 3 and in, peno comp, anything to keep playing...

I tell You something:
Nesta really suffer against football player as Baros and Kewell. I remember when  Kewell was playing with Leeds, what a umiliation he gave to Nesta (SS LAZIO).
So I would like to win or with BAROS-CISSE' or

                                       KEWELL-BAROS-CISSE.
