i'm in a hip hop mood but don't know who to listen to. i love hip hop with funky grooves and clever lyrics - jurassic5, pharcyde, ludacris. i hate hip hop that just goes 'yeah, yeah, what up homey, uh , uh, yeah, you know what i'm saying, yo, huh, huh'.

anyone recommend new stuff for my play list? and sorry for sounding like someones dad!!

Hip Hop has and always will be my fav music, I've listenned to Hip Hop since back in the day when I was 11 (1990), I prefer a lot of old school rappers but some new stuff is also good.

Here are some good artists:

Mos Def
Junior Maffia (inc B.I.G) - get money & players anthem (beats are amazin)
etc.

Sadly no, the last thing they've put out was 3 years back album Full Clip.
Guru now promotes youth - Guru's Jazzmataz
And Premier is still mixing and producing for other groups.

Were you only 11 for a day then?

Hip hop should be renamed to something more fitting for the lyrics & funky beats, something like..........

.............bollox.

A proper waste of time. (in my opinion)  :D

If you listen nowdays most of it is rubbish, but in the 80/90 was a real beat with true meaning, so I can't agree with You on this :)
But, everybody has it's own likes and dislikes :)

My mistake Ownerz was the last one, not Full Clip, but I've read that Guru and Premier gave up Gangstarr for solo projects.
Sad as hell  :(

2pac's early stuff was great but all usual with all musicians that die they are rammed down our throats and I'm sooo tired of him now even though his all pre 'all eyes on me' stuff is great.

If you want a great 2pac song get 'I get around' cos it's mint!!!
