Reds should not be in final: Wenger

Arsene Wenger has declared that Liverpool are "lucky" to be in the Champions League at all this season as he cast doubts on their claims to be allowed to defend the title if they beat AC Milan.

UEFA look set to dash Liverpool's hopes of being granted a special place as winners if they finish outside the top four in the Premiership.

"Normally they should not have played in this cup. They are already lucky to be in it because of the advantage this country has in having four qualifying places," said Wenger. "Most countries have only three places, so they already had an advantage in qualifying last season after finishing fourth."

Wenger insists the Football Association's professional game board were right to back Everton's claims for Champions League entry next season if they finish ahead of Liverpool in fourth place.

"I feel the rules were clear at the beginning of the season so it was very difficult to change. You cannot knock Everton out of it," he argued.

"If UEFA are happy to give a fifth place to England, I'm happy to support it, but I don't know how they can change it.

"You could argue that four places in the Champions League is already quite a big share - and that if you are good enough to win the Champions League, you should be in the top four of your country.

"Normally I'd agree with the premise that if you win the cup you should be allowed to defend it but changing the rules for next season, so the winners qualify, would perhaps be the best solution."

He added: "If you call it the Champions League, basically you should only have the league champions there."

You see this is the king of ****** talk I hate.

Kind of reminds me when a few years ago on the eve a Champions League game against Deportivo at Highbury, Wenger said "we will send out a warning message to all of Europe" and errr what happened? Deportivo gave Arsenal such an extraordinary footballing lesson.

Wenger is just ****JEALOUS**** he hasn't got the ability to get Arsenal into the CL final, he and his Arsenal teams haven't been good enough I'm afraid.

We are in the final because we have been 1 of 2 of the best teams in Europe.

If he can say these things, then I can also say that all of the times Wenger won the League and FA cup with Arsenal, then Arsenal were not the best team in those tournaments either....

What he has said is such unprofessional complete and utter TRASH....We are in the final on MERIT alone....Look at some of the teams we have had to beat....If you win something, you are 99% of the time worthy of it....Simple as that....

exactly, we have done more than any other english club to get the four qualifying places - he should be praising us not slagging us.

Hes startin the mind games with rafa hes a knob, hes been talkin alot about us lately for a team whos 5th in the league?
He can take a hike rafa would buy and sell him, or is this gona start being a Rafa V Arsene, Taggart and Maureen war now?

Im tellin ya what if the Bitters or bolton get into the CL get knocked out in the group stages england will have 3 places season 2006-2007 what if us the mancs and chelsea are the top 3 then?

i dont give a sh*t wat he has to say cos we are in the final and they got nowere near it. just his attempt at mind games b4 the match and cos hes jealous of our success and they will neva do what we have done. dont care what he has to say cos i can just laff in his face about his comments cos we hav got this far
