Absolutely, Van Bommel was immense for PSV - isnt he out of contract at the end of the season? - he closed down in midfiel and supported the attack, we need Gerrard to be at his best and to do that as well and with alonso's passing (i suspect Hamann may be a starter too) and Hamann's protection of the back four we can control the midfield and thus the game

Graham Taylor said this morning that Liverpool would be better off playing Milan than PSV.  That seems to be the general opinion, but it's going to be a VERY tense low-scoring final.  I don't know if I can take it, after Tuesday night my nerves are shot!

As AC Milan survived a scare last night, one have to wonder what go through their players mind??? I'm sure now the players will have doubt about their ability after the game. Also, its going to be tough for Milan to score with the defense we have (We have conceeded only 6 goals so far). With a midfield consisted of Gerrard, Alonso and Hamman, they know it would be tough to connect on passes. We are actually looking good and we are the kind of team AC will scare. I totally agree with Stu's lineup suggestion. We will beat them and no doubt about it!! :buttrock

We simply have to do much better at keeping the ball against Milan than we did against Chelsea.

The big difference between Milan and Chelsea is that Milan have a world class striker who has a very high goal scored to opportunities ratio. Schevchenko will be able to capitalise on half chances, unlike Drogba and they have long range shooters in Kaka and Seedorf.

When I started this thread many people were a bit in awe of milan but last night didn't surprise me. They are good but are very vulnerable if you give it a go. They are easily shaken

Seedorf, Gattuso, Prl (whatever) and goalie are all weak.

Stam is easily turned, Maldini has lost a lot of pace, their marking at set pieces is poor and they give a lot of dangerous frees away.

They have strenghts but many weaknesses. They are there for the taking.

I'll agree to that. Guus Hiddink is a master schemer and a clever tactician who could give Rafa a lesson or two (incidentally he is my 2nd favourite coach behind Rafa of course). PSV's flanks are also extremely pacy and they would give us more problem than Milan. I watched the first leg and found that PSV gave Milan too much respect and were caught cold right at the end of each half. I don't think Rafa will allow the players to feel at all inferior to the Italians especially after the pedigree that we knocked out in the past 3 rounds. The second leg just confirmed that we should go into the game with a 50:50 chance of walking off with the title. Just need to watchout for the last 5 mins of each half tho...

yesterday's result just made me think that we could easily have suffer the same sucker punch if Gudjohnsen's shot has gone in. Not only that but we will have to hear all the blah blah blah from the likes of Maurinho, Lampard and Gudjohnsen in the press for the rest of the season.

I have a feeling that many things have conspired for us to win the CL this year...go on boys, go grab it!  :eyebrow

I agree to a certain degree but azriahmad, you have been extremely pessimistic on out team in the past months...what gives?  :veryangry

(I have just posted in another topic but i re-write here because in this topic there are more people:)

Hi...i'am an italian Milan's fan. i don't speak english very well
I'm very happy, and a lot of milan supporters are very happy to have liverpool in final
Every sunday during the serie A match we sing yours song "you'll never ealk alone" (since a lot of year) sand we respect Liverpool more than other english team..
but I want to remember you that the Milan of the last night was the WORST milan in this season...we was already thinking to Milan - Juventus...Usually Milan plays the better football in italy and i think in europe...however the final will be a very difficult match for milan and also for Liverpool
