Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby The Manhattan Project » Mon Feb 23, 2004 1:02 pm

I dread to think what Arsenal would have done to Liverpool had we got through.

Did you see the way Arsenal came back from going a goal down against Chelsea? That was hunger and desire. That was passion from a team that wanted to win. The huddle after the match was also very cool to see. That was a team focused on the goal of winning. Team spirit!!!

Wenger brought so much success to Arsenal in a relatively short period of time after becoming their manager. I admire the guy a great deal. Houllier has spent so much and delivered so little. We have actually moved backwards since 2001, when I had high hopes that we were finally going to get the Championship back.

Now I'm just angry, upset and frustrated.

haha........ i couldnt cry but laugh guys for i've got no feeling left.maybe its the samefor Owen who worked extremely hard in the past but has now regconised its useless to fight for Liv.
Who would want play for a manager who cant see whichplayers can play in which position?? Heskey thru out the game couldnt returned a simple pass...And yet he was deployed on the left in the midfield. Cheyrou so weak and so slow...Le Tallac not ready for 1st team.....Nothing but frustration

I saw Owen step up to take the penalty and said "doen't he miss half the penalties he has taken?" and hey presto......... Murphy came on a few minutes earlier, even Gerrard would be a better choice.

There are no excuses left.

We now pretty much have a full squad back from injury, and a couple of them who were out long term: Carragher, Hamman, Owen and Finnan have had a decent run of games so Houllier cannot claim they are not match fit.

Some people say that we are a potentially top three side let down by a poor manager but I think some serious questions must be asked of the players as well.

Hyppia, Hamman, Henchoz etc won huge plaudits in 2001 and 2002 but they are a pale imitation of the players they were, and even Owen doesn't look as smart or as sharp as two years ago.

This is the biggest mess the club has been in modern times, at least on a par with 1994 and worse than 1998. I honestly cannot see Houlleir turning it around and it could take a new manager years to rebuild.

For the first time in my life I am really despairing as a fan....I'll never abandon my club but we are fast becoming the new Spurs...without the fancy footballers.

If it's any consolation, we have picked up as many points in the last 12 league games as big spending chelski

I just wish the fvcking board hadn't given him until the end of the season. They should have kept quiet and monitored the situation. The FA Cup loss (and the draw which took it to a replay) should have been the last straw for even the most loyal Houllier supporters
