Chelsea captain John Terry added: "The lads said the ball didn't go over the line. William Gallas was in the way of the ball from where the linesman was but he gave it - which was a bad decision. If you're not sure, then don't give a goal."
If the lads said the ball didn't go over the line, why didn't they complain?
Maybe in their arrogance, they thought that with a further 86 mins to go, they definitely would win.
The way I see it, it is sour grapes.
I have no sympathy for Eidur Gudjonsen(sp?). He cheated, got Alonso booked and then laughed in his face; what goes around comes around. He will rue the day, for a long to come (hopefully), that he missed the chance to put his team into the final.
As I am a conspiracy theory/cynical git sort of person, here is my take on the Alonso incident.
They feared Alonso's skill, so his ankle was broken by Lampard and when he was back and playing in the first leg he was booked so he wouldn't play in the second leg. He and Gerard make a great pairing in midfield, they didn't target Gerard because they want to buy him and don't want a 'crock' also, correct me if I am wrong: didn't Alonso turn down Chelsea cos he wanted to be with Rafa? Or am I making that up??
Anyway, real justice was done, cos their pride is hurt and it hurts them that they are not in the Final.
