Milan beatable

We all know that AC are good but when PSV had a real go at them last week they didn't seem to confident at the back. I know nesta was out but Maldini, Cafu, Costacurta (prob a sub) aren't exactly young.

I think our best chance will be to have a go at them (assuming they get past psv) as opposed to sitting back and leaving them try to break us down.

I reckon Cisse (assuming he plays at least 30 mins) may have too much legs for the back four.

Is Nesta fast?

JC put it right when he said that we gotta win the thing now.

PSV are not by any means out of it.

nesta and satm is unsurpassable but the problem for you calls Dida is exceptional... knows it why in the derby of champions dida it has adorned all to we (Inter) you must try to go in speed on stam... with milan baros and garzya

Age means nothing. Nesta and Stam are quick. Nesta is also probably the best in his position bar none over the last 10 years.

Maldini in his position over the last 20 years.

They are beatable, but its gonna take something incredible. This is a real world class team who are good going forward as they are at the back, the right balance in this match will be crucial.

I can tell you the team now... if everyones fit...

Code: Select all

                     Baros
                    Gerrard
Riise         Alonso     Hamann    Luis Garcia
Traore      Hyypia    Carragher    Finnan
                     Dudek

If we attack to much, we'll leave ourselves open, we have to get it right but we MUST close down Pirlo and Kaka VERY quickly, if we allow them any time on the ball they can and will hurt us.

From reading your posts stu I can almost feel the adrenalin rush.  If we pump long balls forward the Milan defence will have a laugh.  The only area where Milan may be vulnerable in defence is perhaps a lack of pace.  Hopefully Baros or Cisse can exploit this.

Also, Cafu destroyed United with his forward runs.  Perhaps we should consider playing Kewell on the left wing.  If he is urged to attack down that flank it would keep Cafu too busy to get forward.  Riise could then be brought back to full back even though this may be harsh on Traore.

I know we are being presumptious in overlooking PSV but who besides Gattuso are on yellows for Milan ?

Cafu will go forward no matter what. Harry won't track him. Riise will. Simple decision in my eyes.

We need to attack their flanks, we cant go through the corridor, Maldini, Nesta and Stam are too strong. We know they are defensivley minded, but by saying that, they do have gaping holes in their midfield, especially down the side. Crosses may be used, but I'd like the boys to cut in, and bring the balls in from the side, Kewell is the master at doing this, and showed earlier in his spell this season that he has the ability to do this. Riise can get caught taking on the defence, so I'd like to think that Traore would overlap with Riise, and feed those balls to the attackers. Garcia loses the ball to easily, especially taking on the defence. All in all, I think we got the capability of causing an upset, we are underdogs, but thats a tag I love, cos we got nothing to lose, except a final.

saw Milan-PSV game last week and my first reaction is how PSV do not take the lead back home? A Savchenko special and an incredible lapse of concentration right the end makes Milan look good. They are surely beatable but mark my word, they are not yet assured of a ticket to Istanbul...I'll be watching tonight game closely and if PSV are able to score in the first 30mins, games on...

Milan are the favourites to win it no doubt about it (although they havent qualified for the final yet!) but my personal view is that Juventus is better than Milan.  Milan and Juventus are both truly world class teams but we beat Juventus at Anfield and kept them to 0-0 in front of a hostile home crowd.  We can do this.  Milan are very strong defencively, as all Italian teams are, and Gattuso and Pirlo are outstanding midfielders.  Their wings are probably their weakest point but are still on par with the best.  Shevchenko up front is, as we all know, one of the great strikers of our era and it will take a great performance from our back line to keep him out.

But we can do this.  Italian teams arnt used to being closed down straight away, look at the way we held Juventus in Turin.  If we play that sort of defencive game we can hold Milan too.  The only problem there is that we lacked much attacking prowess.  If ever there was a time for every player to stand up and be counted this final will be it.  And if Rafa has ever had the chance to prove to everyone just how good a manager he is this final will be it.

Look at AC Milan, beware the might of Liverpool Football Club!

Same approach as our last 3 ties in the knockout and we'll beat milan.

They're solid at the back and with shevchenko and kaka they're always a threat, but i think with alonso, gerrard and hamann playing we can win the midfield battle.  That will win us the game.
