I really think that if EHD plays centre forward or just behind the main striker, he will do a lot more (and yes, score goals)than just playing on the flanks. Just look at Cheryou when he is playing centre midfield............... If only Ged, had played diouf as striker instead of heskey

It is true that Diouf has natural talent. But he dosen't have a natural position.

He dosen't score enough to be a striker, and to be honest he dosen't score enough to be an attacking midfielder.

He looks out of place on the right hand side, and often plays silly balls back to the defence which puts them under pressure.

The best thing we can do is cut our loses and see what we can get for him in the summer.

Diouf was bought on the basis that he looked a good player solely on his performance against the French in the World Cup. This is exactly what Fergusson did with Ronaldo after seeing him play well against United in a pre-season friendly with Sporting Lisbon.

Kevin Keegan once said when managing Newcastle: "Don't judge my team after one or two games in the Premiershi; it is only after at least ten games that we will be able to tell if we're capable of mounting a challenge for the title". Similarly, the same rule applies when contenplating buying a player: you should not assess whether an individual is good enough for a respective team based on one game.

Fair enough, Diouf played well against France in the World Cup - but, he is not cut out to be a 24/7 Premiership player. Furthermore, he is not a WORLD CLASS player, which is what Liverpool needs.
"People Say football is a matter of life and death" , " I believe it is much more important than that", Bill Shankly.

Diouf can't score because he has poor finishing and does not have the killer goal instinct of the top strikers. He is talented no doubt but good strikers don't really need buckets of talents, remember John Aldridge? He is useless for holding up the ball or crossing or creating chances but he is great at goalscoring. Doiuf is not.
Big Ben will scream at me and call me a racist but the fact is Diouf is cr#p at finishing.

Diouff should have been given a run-out up-front when we had all the injuries to our front players, but GH thought differently;maybe he doesn't rate his £10 million signing but won't admit it.

Supersub, it is more than that with Diouf. He has good ball skills but he is not a clinical finisher. How many times we see him scoop the ball over the bar or moon his shots in front of goal. Perhaps Houllier knows that Diouf lacks the final finishing touch to risk playing him out front, perhpas it shows in training.
For that matter, Heskey can't finish either! Yet he always get to play upfront and waste chances almost evry time with alarming consistency.
Our strikers lack clinical finishing, apart from Owen, and because of this, he always had to carry the burden of scoring and Gerrard always had to win balls, protect the defense and at the same time, provide defense spilitting passes to Owen. What are the rest doing? I am straying but you can sense my frustrations...

i think fact that he doesnt score enuf is because he's never given a run upfront. he cant play as winger c'on. his skill is lethal in the box and becos no one will dare to touch him inside there he can create space for others and can get penalty as well....
