Was this in the summer or when Houiller had a chance to buy him and said he wasn't good enough,i don't think him saying him saying him never came to Liverpool because of the weather. Because i remeber Larsson turning down Blackburn in the summer to go to Barca and if you think about it Eto'o is use to hot places e.g Cameroon,Madrid,Mallorca etc  :)

Kop that! Eto'o's Liverpool snub

Cameroonian goal machine Samuel Eto'o has set La Liga alight this season, scoring 21 goals in Barcelona's march towards the Liga title. But he could have been banging them in at Anfield had he not turned Liverpool down shortly before joining Barça last summer.

The transfer would have been a massive coup for newly-installed Kop boss Rafa Benitez but the former Valencia coach had to stick instead with Czech Republic man Milan Baros, who failed to carry his sensational performances at Euro 2004 into the domestic campaign.

"Although they offered me six million euros a season, there are more important things than money," Eto'o told El Mundo Deportivo.

"Happiness does not have a price. You cannot buy happiness."

Although reasons why Eto'o might prefer the Mediterranean to Merseyside are not hard to find, he offered further insight into his selection of the Nou Camp.

"Everyone knows about the weather they have in England," he joked.

Liverpool was the preferred destination for Real Madrid, who part-owned Eto'o along with Mallorca. Real tried to block a move to their arch-rivals, but had no other option after he turned down the Premiership side.

Their worst fears were realised as Eto'o settled immediately with a string of explosive performances that contrasted with the lacklustre form of Real forwards Raul and Ronaldo.

He wanted to go to Barca, thats where his heart lied.

Simple as that.

Seeing how Barca finished so strongly towards the second half of last season (if they had 2 or 3 more wins during the first half, they'd be the La Liga champs) and seeing Ronaldinho's skills and positive influence on the Barca team's playing performance, it is not hard to see why he preferred Barca to us.
