Theiry Henry has been Arsenal's player of the season thus far. Why? Because for one he scores a lot of goals (obvious). Then, he has a high work rate for a flair player. Also, Arsenal have tended to struggle without him - this is because he often comes from the left and Arsenal tend to attack from this side and do not have much options when he is either absent or subdued or off form.
Are Arsenal a one man team? If so, what does that statement make of Cole, Campbell (when he plays), Pires, Ljunberg, Viera (who has been the one mostly off form) etc. Arsenal are too reliant on Henry who, besided scoring goals also do a lot of assists, in fact to the doubters, are there any players out there who has scored as much as Henry who also contribute to the creation of goals? You can't expect to win championships if there is an overly reliance on one player. Arsenal, this season, has been guilty of that.
Should Henry be in the shortlist of nominated players for the PFA award? I think so, based on his contributions to the Arsenal cause despite his team mates' shortcoming.
As for SG, it is unfortunate that his few telling contributions in a personally yo-yo season should be more noticed than the ever dependent Carra. Anyway, if either were to be nominated, I think that John Terry is the most deserving based on his outstanding performances and leadership for Chelsea this season. We have never had this kind of influential player since Graeme Souness.
