ok - lazy @rse andy_g finally goes to google and checks out a couple of sites that say $280 to $350ish. not bad considering the exchange rate. but, paul, i'd love to know the price in NYC - i'll be there next week and if you can recomend a place to pick one up i'd well appreciate it.

also any problems about region encoding etc etc... and a little user review. oh, and can i borrow it to try it out. just post it over. ta.

:D

Paul: won't you not have problems with your PSP in that it'll only play US games?

They look like an amazing piece of kit: far more to them than simply a games console.

I might wait a while before buying and word has it that the games for them are very expensive.

I paid $300 for the value pack with a games (also comes with a memory stick, spiderman2 the movie, etc) which works out at £175, here you can get them next day delivery from www.nuplayer.co.uk and it doesn't matter which version you get as they are region free so will play any games :)

Andy_G: it took me 3 days to find one cos all the shops are sold out, try FYE on Lexington Ave just by Bloomindales cos they had 3 left, problem is most places who are getting them in say you have to pre-order them, anyway mate good luck and enjoy the trip.

They do't come out over here until 24th June, discs are slightly smaller than Gamecube ones and are in a plastic case.

Get one now for £250 :;):

I bought myself a PS2 last week and I have to say.....its absolutely rubbish.

I'm big into PC games and have a high end machine, but I was desperate to play the likes of GTA: San Andreas and GT4 so I went out and bought a console as they are relatively cheap now. Both of those are good games but have absolutely awful graphics. Pacific Assault is another game I've tried and is rubbish, while a big name game like Metal Gear Solid 3 has more fancy movie cutscenes than actual gameplay.

High end PCs are where real cutting edge gaming is at: games like Half Life 2 and Fry Cry are incredible and absolutely blow console game sout of the water.

I have a holiday in Italy at the start of May with the missus and when I come back I'm going to treat myself to a new gaming rig.

I have the following in mind:

A64 3800
Assus Nforce 4 motherbaord
2 gig 3200 dual channel ram
2 x 300GB Hard drives in RAID array
ATI Radeon X850XT PCI Xpress

Powerful machine eh? I'm tempted to put a suit on it and send it to work for me.  :D
