If Joaquin doesnt end up at Chelsea than yes Duff will play. And the Russains favouite player was Terry last season, Duff was second. And that was before Robben and Co turned up.

Duff is good player but he is not on the same level as Robben and probarly Joaquin.

But that is the system they use and Gerrard will easily be accomodated.

Chelsea's one redeeming feature is that of their 3 best players (Terry, Lampard, Robben) 2 are English

I can't remember how much they paid for Lampard, anyone remember?

You can see a mile off they only want gerrard to give fat frank a rest, and Duff was saying today thats hes knackerd the whole team are, thats why they are conceding goals of late :O
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Out of all of Rafa signings I think although Alonso was the most expensive he will represent the best value for money.

He is right out of the top bracket of youngsters in Europe, it was a real coup to get him too Anfield. He is like a newer improved version of Hamann. Though Hamann's passing is good, Alonso is a bit more positive and constructive with his usage of the ball, he is always looking to start a good move.

He will be a big part of the future of this team.

Look at what he has played this season when he has had most of his midfielders fit:

                 Alonso         Hamman

Gerrard          Garcia          Riise

This is echoed by Benitez' Valencia side, when he would play Aimar, Albelda and Baraja in the centre.

Gerrard could learn a lot from Alonso. Gerrard has many bad habits such as his desire to hit killer balls with every touch, when really 90% of really good midfield play means recycling and keeping posession.

Spot on JBG.

I don't think the Gerrard is that well suited to the way Rafa wants to play anyway. Rafa likes his players to play a short passing game. Gerrard hasn't developed that part of his game yet. It's the final stage for him and I think he will have to learn that at Chelsea because they play that way a lot.

hey man, he aint gone yet

agree whole heartedly, Alonso for £10m will prove to be one of the biggest bargains of recent footballing years

he will be our best player for years, I've no doubt about it. I read an interview with him in the sunday times before christmas and he's a cool character as well

alonso will hopeffully be the reason why we finally overtake everton and hold onto 4th as he can control a games tempo like none of our other players especially gerrard who when rushed often easily squanders possession

i think alonso is a fantastic midfielder, gerrard is a better tackler and will score more goals but alonso provides that vital ability to put the ball on a tupence from any distance

btw barnsebrush I love your avatr :D :D

£11M at the time of transfer was considered a premium. During their West Ham days, Cole was then considered the better prospect out of the midfield trio but the progress Lampard made has really surprised me.

Wonder how Carrick will fare in a better team than Spurs?
