Most clubs in the country are in debt except for probably Man Utd, Tottenham and Charlton, and of course Chelsea.

Most football clubs/Businesses operate with debt, even the best companies in the world have debt, it doesn’t mean that they have no money of that they are run badly. It's just about cash flow, instead of paying for everything upfront it makes better business sense to have the cash flowing through your business.

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard is ready to open talks over a new contract at Anfield.

The News of the World says Liverpool hierarchy are willing to make Gerrard one of the best paid players in the Premiership to keep him away from the clutches of Real Madrid and Chelsea.

The massive, long-term deal could be worth £26 million to Gerrard, who is ready to sit down and discuss the offer with Reds management.

if we keep gerrard and alonso i`m convinced we`ll win the league within two years. obviously you need decent players around them but games are lost and won in centre midfield.
paul ince once spouted off at the mouth that he and jamie redknapp where the best centre mid pairing in europe, he was talking ****** but i`m gonna do my own "incey" and say gerrard and alonso will be the best centre mid partnership in europe.

.. here here... if Benitez can gets the right players this summer.. and the rest get fit .. well I think we will have a grt season ... midfield and up front potentially we coud be a real force..
