you can't compare owen and henry because they're completely different players. Henry doesn't play as an out and out striker in the box for a start. Also, owen's getting held back by the mediocrity around him. Owen at arsenal would score bucketloads because of the movement and the way they play. He won't be here next season.

Look at the end of the treble season start of the 2001/2002 season. Thats how to utilise Owen. He went on a run scoring something like 27 in 24 and it was through the old tactics. That was playing to his strengths which are one on one finishing, pace and movement. Crossing a ball and pinning teams in there own half makes Owen alot less effective.

He is better playing from deep and hitting teams on the break. Hence the reason we played like this and to a certain extent still do.

Granted Stu, but then that was three years ago, we've gone backwards since then.

We shouldn't have sold Litmanen, who would have even laid the goals on for Heskey I dare say, and he clearly wanted to stay

We should have signed a replacement for Gary Mac, who as old as he was, made a massive difference to the team.

Instead we signed players who weren't replacements, we're not the team we should be with the players we have, and we are £20 million worse off for the record.

we took a step backwards last season but imo another step forwards this season. We've stagnated over the last two years due to mistakes in the transfer market and injuries etc.

This won't last. Long term and short term we have the squad and the players to get out of this rut. As for the comment about Owen scoring more for Man Utd and Arsenal... Arsenal are the best at this style of play. Its very similar. They always hit teams on the break so theyfore he'd score more goals. For united before they sold Beckham i'd have said he'd score more... now i wouldn't.

Step forward this season??!?!?!?!!?!? We're fourth with probably the lowest total ever for a team in our position at this stage of a season. We've lost seven games already and drawn far too many times (eight). It is all too easy to claim this is due to injury, but fact remains we've still only taken average points from the last few games - 5 of a possible 9.

Houllier bemoans his injury crises - what will he do if Owen does leave? I suspect he'll moan about that, even though he is largely responsible for Owen's indecision over his future

Too true, why are Liverpool even in the position where they are scared about the future of Owen and Gerrard?

It's a good job that we have acquired a reputation over the last 112 years, because that is all we've got.
