Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Looks like Liverpool's Champions League ambitions took another knock following a frustrating cum boring 0-0 outing against Blackburn Rovers.

All top teams create plenty of goal scoring chances; it does not matter whether you put the ball behind the net, because that is another story. But the issue is about creating goal scoring chances and Liverpool barely created a chance against BR and if they play like this against Everton, I got a feeling Everton fans can start booking their European trips for next season.

How a side can look so good in reaching the Champions League quarter finals and yet play so disappointingly? Where is the consistency? This is a question which will give RB many sleepless nights.

And again, Jerzy Dudek had one of his MANY lapses in concentration with a half hit clearance that went as far as Reid, whom tried to lop the embarrass Dudek.

I do not blame the manager's tactic. It is all down to individual player. I cannot accept this kind of performance. In fact, Liverpool may well count themselves lucky to escape with a solitary point, when Reid lashed a 20m free-kick which almost went in.

Now they face a more daunting task. But I am betting them to win Everton because Liverpool always look like a much better side when playing against top teams. Everton might not be consider a 'top team' but they are certainly on top of us right now.

First of all, this is not trash. I have seen what Liverpool used to be in the 70s and 80s. So this level of performance is unacceptable, unless of course we are aiming to be in the top 10. I think the only way to stop all these negative 'trash' from coming in, is to start winning things and play football like in the past. If on the pitch, football is played like trash then I suppose there would not be anything positive things to write about.

I think every fan or supporter of Liverpool FC has been fustrated over the last season.  At times liverpool have shown the potential is there to do well.  Look at the Arsenal, Chelsea (new year), Olymp and BL games.  The inconsistancy is tearing the heart out of LFC fans - it's so fustrating.  However, I think in the long run (2-3yrs) we can be back up at the top.  The backbone of the team is there, Carra - Alonso/Gerrard - Morientes.  We just need to weed alot of the cr@p out and bring in some young fast replacements.

Its a big doubt whether we can make it in the CL for next season. If we don't - and it's a likely don't - then money still has to be made available to Rafa to rebuild. If it's Morgan's millions then fine. But something has to be done. If Gerard is going then I hope it's 50 mil for him. that's 5 decent players plus the money the board can give which, if there's investment, could be another 20-30 mil. I think things will look up. In a couple of seasons from now we could be a more decent prospect for silverware and back in the CL ( even if the side is full of spaniards)!!!!

In fact for the past seasons, we have been in the top 3. If we can be up there amonst the top 3, I don't see any reason why can't we win the league. Bascially Liverpool has a strong foundation but it is about its consistency. RB has to find a solution. Chelsea with all that money, is going strong. Well we we win the league after 2-3 years? I certainly hope so but for now, I am taking one step at a time.
