you're reasons are all perfectly sound, leon. but don't expect the team to stick to your plan. i'm sure you would have been saying the same kind of rational things before the southampton and birmingham games.

It's probably now or never for us. Everton looked very impressive against an inept Villa and don't look likely to completely fold, so it follows that we are probably going to need upwards of 25 points from our last 11 games. It's a big ask and one which will prove beyond us if we play as inconsistently as we have thus far this season.
My fear is that we have left ourselves a little too much to do, but even if we did come up a fraction short I would be happy with the progress made this season given our injuries, Owens departure etc etc.

Don't know about an absolute must wool mate but it would certainly come in handy. 8 wins and a draw would probably be enough assuming that Everton continue to be beaten by the very top teams. That said, a defeat against them would probably make us extreme outsiders at best.

Just out of interest I just a quick look on the old 'Betfair'. They make Everton around about a 4/5 chance to get 4th, with us rated about 7/4 ish. That's probably just about how I see it I'm afraid, sorry to be pessimistic. That said, it wouldn't be the first time a 7/4 chance won or that I was proven to be talking absolute b0ll0cks so heres hoping.

It's precisely stuff like this that worries me , many of the games on our run in could be decided by the odd goal or a refs decision .

Sounds a bit negative but we haven't exactly been the luckiest team in the league this season.

tomorrow probably sees the season's two biggest underachievers meeting. you think we've been inconsistent, well newcastle have just been pi$$ poor full stop. it's always a difficult game up there but they are defensively shocking. we can win the game no doubt about it.

souness will get the bullet by the end of the season unless he can orchestrate a fighback of biblical proportions. Let's hope he waits another week or so before rallying his troops

correct me if im wrong but werent the wins over charlton and fulham the only back to back premiership victories we had? we lack consistency major and we just meant to turn it on like that, say we dont get 4th placr your only gonna go off on a rant, dont set ur sights 2 high cos when the team disappoints, the fall gonna be a severe 1 for u, for me the 3 homes games after the newcastle game will shape the push for 4th place, cant look any further at the minute

the squad we have at the moment will struggle to make 4th,plus how many of them will be totally commited to the cause when they know most of them won't be at the club next year? the main difference between everton and us is team spirit, which a lot of our players have lacked all season with the exception of a handfull of games.   ??? ???

Jesus Christ, I have been slated on this thread haven't I ??

However follow my logic rather than looking at it as an 11 game run.

1. Newcastle. I suggested we would win this one by the odd goal. Now maybe following their win against Chelsea last week people have some sort of renewed faith in Greame Souness and the barcodes, but I quite frankly do not see it. They have been extrely poor in the league all season, and have failed to win against any of the top four or five teams. If you are really worried about Kluivert and Ameobi up front then we are in trouble. Their defence has been bolstered by the (excellent but costly) aquisition of Boomsong, but Titus Bramble at the back is perfect for Milan and Nanado to exploit. Stevie will certainly boss the midfield and Didi will be spurred on by the hostile Toon army. I expect John Arne to continue his excellent form against Newcastle and slot one. To win by one goal against Newcastle is highly likely.

Am I still that stupid ??

Er....Yes you are still that stupid!

made you look like a turd!

more like.....Lose,Lose,Lose, Draw, Draw, Win, Lose, Lose Lose etc
