Koptalk

Spanish outfit Athletico Madrid are interested in signing Liverpool winger Harry Kewell according to reports originating from Spain.

It is claimed that Athletico are in the market for an attacking midfielder and that they see Kewell as just the man to come in and do the job for them. If their interest is genuine, it would appear that one of Liverpool's Spaniards has probably suggested back in their homeland that the player would be allowed to leave if a bid came in for him.

Kewell is certainly under pressure to save his Anfield career but the planned surgery he has may help wonders in time for next season. Rumours suggest his days are numbered regardless but if you wanted us to come off the fence we'd say that we think they're still premature. The only worry he has is that he's a big earner at the club and that's where Liverpool might just cut their losses by accepting a reduced fee for him.

In all honesty, looking at the limited information relating to this particular link, it looks very speculative and a non-starter for a number of reasons.
