Because our great players from the past in our glory days won everything in sight, and we as fans tend to compare with these so called great players.
Sadly football has changed first MONEY is what matters to most players now as a footballer has a very short career.
And 2. To many foriegners being brought into the prem who dont have a clue about past history and traditions.
Finally we put alot of pressure on the players without knowing it, because we want the old Liverpool back but sadly it has long faded away with changing times.
And they cannot compete and be what WE want as fans.

That comment was poo from start to finish. sorry to say!

"from past glories we think these players are not good enough" ????

What has past glories got to do with what kind of players we buy now? silly boy. So if we'd have bought Henry, Pires, Robben, Duff, etc etc what would you have said then?

No joking, your post was a DEFEATEST AND POOR ATTITUDE to have as  an LFC fan

Its all about buying the right quality of player, some of these players are out of thier depth when they join LFC and the premierhsip like harry kewell, and only come for the glamour and the big paycheque.

LFC have had the sae sort of money to buy players as chlsea over the past few years, and squandered most of it, by buying the wrong players.

Ìdiot its the truth , and it hurts and im not a boy ok :glare:

Houllier could have bought Henry, Pires, Duff etc .............. but he didnt did he?
He bought aload of underachievers , Diouf, Cheyrou the new Zidane ??? , Arsene Wenger has a good eye for talent, where as oulliers was very poor.
And of course I wouldnt have been saying this if we had these players you FOOL.

i am not sure of henry or pires....but houllier could (and should) have bought duff & anelka. They would have saved his a$$.

But sometimes, things happen for a reason. If he hadn't bought diao & diouf, rafa would not be here......

PS....I am trying to put positive spin on everything....ppl around me keep saying i have a negative outlook on life :D

Fair enuf Duff would have been great.

Dunno about Anelka saving Houllier's ******!!

He's a moody c*** and if he'd signed then we'd be sitting here complaining about his attitude and why we wasted 10 million on him (just like Diouf!)

Gotta disagree with a lot of people here,Its not about past glories or great anfield heroe's (look at owen and fowler as good as a lot of old heroe's who won trophies) i dont think its about players lacking talent either.I think it boils down to Two thing's Attitude and style we need a winning attitude we lost it a long time ago The mancs and the ****** still have it chelsea are getting it.Now when i say style i mean style of play i think people came here under houlier with great talent (most of em did) but he then took them players and played them in a different style of what they where used to he bought people with a pass and go style of play like liverpool fans wanted to see then played with long ball tactic's.I also believe this is the real reason behind Rafa making ordinary players look good , he is playing them with a style of play they are used to and more importantly a style of play they like and appreciate. As normal for the majority of my post this is just my opinion and feel free to disagree .

After Houllier failed to improve us during his reign we are back to the drawing board with Benitez. We need to rebuild, yet again, but money is tight with the stadium plans and all. We just hired the wrong people, managers, coaches and ofcourse players. So many have failed to produce and its crippled the club financially. With Man Utd rolling in cash already and Chelsea now big players in the transfer market we simply cannot compete. Its a sad fact. We will have to go the long way round, nurture players, buy cheaper young players and hope they turn out to be top class. We cannot fix things instantly without big big money. Not so long back Chelsea where competing with us for 4th every year, but their huge investment has seen them go way beyond us and above the top two. If we had that we would be doing just great I promise you. I dont want this to sound defeatist, because theres always a chance, but in reality we are unlikely to challenge the big money clubs in this division. Unless our financial position changes dramatically I think we are in for more of the same year on year.
