I always said that Cheyrou needed a run in the team, he is not queit ther yet, but he is improving game by game.

Funny how some of the knockers have become supports all of a sudden!

I've always maintained he had it in him since i saw his first game against Lazio. He looked sheer class that day. Not good.... CLASS. His passing, vision, touch, movement, tackling, speed of thought and skill were fantastic to watch.

He's starting to show glimpses and fans look as though they are starting to give him a chance. If he keeps improving at this rate we'll have a hell of a player at the start of next season. Which again will strengthen the squad.

i think there are a few options for right midfield,
joe cole (wants to leave chelsea, unhappy with his role), malbranque and bowyer as youve said, dalmat, fiore (from lazio, may be a bit out of our league but lazio are strapped for cash) and simon davies (unsure ??? ).

There's bound to be some others from abroad that could be good. I dont really no the foreign league's that well. What do you think...

I like the potential of Joe Cole but he is an in-betweeny player. He's not a winger, i don't really see him as an out and out centre-mid, he isn't a stiker so you have to play him the hole behind the front 2. It will take a very good manager to get the best out of Cole which kinda rules out GH.
Davies is a player i like but i don't know that he would really improve us that much.Fiore is big in Italy but it is a massive culture shock coming from Serie to the Premiership (not many have made the jump successfully)
Dalmat has plaeny of skill and vision so could be a good fit for us if Tottenham cannot afford him in the summer. I like Malbranque (who doesn't) I also like his team mate Sean Davis who has very quick feet, good engine and a wicked shot on him (he put 2 screamers past Dudek a couple of seasons back)

I agree with Stu and say that Cheyrou should now be given a decent and prolonged run in the team, for better or worse.

Murphy is a very good squad player but again, questions have to be raised about his long term viability as a first teamer.

I'm not a massive fan of Diouff out on the right. Diouff has personally been a massive disappointment for me as he looked sensational at the World Cup. Even Diouff's best game for Liverpool is still probably not quite good enough. People say he's a striker and he's played out of position on the right, but he has never been a goalscorer at any stage in his career and there's no getting round that. I simply cannot understand how Houllier thought he could fit him into this Liverpool team.

I'm not a fan of Cole and I prefer Malbranque.

Stu is correct in saying that the 2002 Pool team was very good and probably would have went from strength to strength had we signed someone of Kewell's quality instead of the Senegalese. However, its now two years since the strong League and Champions League form of the 2002 side and things don't sit still in football. Problems that were non existant in 2002 have now appeared.

I also agree with those who say that its better to create chances and miss than not create any at all. Its an old cliche that creating chances is 90% the way there. The Everton result was disheartening but I will be optimistic for once and say that despite the lack of goals, we played fairly well.

not trying to be picky... lol.

i don't see it like that though... you get what you deserve. if you take your chances your deserve to win if not tuff s##t.

In reply to columbia...

Steed Malbranque seems the only player out there who'd fit the system and be able to adapt to a different style once the tactics "progress/improve".

Bowyer is no longer an option and seems to be a different player since he left leeds.

Dalmat isn't really a wide player, if he came he'd have to improve his work rate but he's a player i do like the look of but how much would he cost?

Fiore.... don't rate him that highly to be honest plus he's slightly on the old side and would cost stupid money.

Davies? mmm, i like him but he's more of an out an out wide player which i don't think we need. He's also not got the phyiscal pressence and i think if Gerrard or Hamann were to leave or get injured we'd seriously lack this in midfield. Don't get me wrong i like him, but i just have my doubts. I don't believe we should change the system again and the only viable option to me seems Malbranque unless Gerard pulls off another "Hyypia" type signing.
