Liverpool eyeing new defender

Liverpool are keen on Deportivo La Coruna defender Cesar

The powerful 27-year-old centre-half has just eighteen months remaining on his contract at the Riazor Stadium, and may be allowed to leave in the summer for a fee.

Deportivo are apparently seeking around £3.5million for the Spanish international, who has in the past been linked with Newcastle United.

Indeed, the Magpies may still be monitoring Cesar’s situation, but the strong Spanish contingency at Anfield would make Liverpool red-hot favourites for his signature.

Deportivo La Coruna defender is flattered to be linked with a move to Liverpool

The Spanish international is said to be a target for the Reds in the summer, with the Riazor club believed to be willing to let him go for around £3.5million.

Cesar has just eighteen months remaining on his existing deal, and although his future is far from certain, he admits he is tempted by the challenge the Premiership would provide him with.

''I have not spoken personally with the clubs and only know of the news published in the press,'' said Cesar. ''My future is worked out by my agent.

''I am happy with the interest because it demonstrates that my efforts are valued. 'English football is spectacular and there is a lot of work for defenders. 'There is always that option.”

FFS please don't tell me the reason you don't want any more Spaniards is because they aren't local and they don't know what it means to play for Liverpool.

Arsenal had 11 foreigners start against Crystal Palace, and five foreigners on the bench, they whipped the floor with Crystal Palace. Chelsea have mostly foreign players and look how they're performing.

What we need is World Class talent. Mellor or Morientes, you choose.

These are not the times where we can wait for young players to develop into class acts, we need world class players as soon as possible.

No our foreign players don't have heart, thats why they were poor against Olympiakos and Arsenal two huge games of the season, wait they played well in those games.

And by foreign I guess you mean any player that isn't from Liverpool or England for that matter.

Lets get rid of every player whose from another country and let the youngsters from the academy be the senior players!!!!!
[/sarcasm]

We don't have many young extremely talented local players.

A.B. i have no problem with foreign players of course i would choose Morientes over Mellor but im on about the derbies games. They were really up for the games against Aresnal and Olymiapakos and we won,But they weren't up for the games against Man u both home and away .Aswell as the Everton game the only player who has showed passion and heart in every game this season is Carragher where's the captain when we need him  ???
