This is a bit of fun which I think we could all use at the moment. I've been thinking a lot, as I'm sure you have too, about who I would like to see brought into the squad in the summer. A lot of names have been thrown around on this site but what a lot of people fail to do is explain their reasons for wanting these players. So I thought I would pick 5 players that are realistic targets and explain why I want them. And then fit them into the team/squad. So here's my selection.

1. SWP. Shaun is one of the hottest properties in English football at the moment and there will be a lot of clubs trying to lure him away from Man City this summer. His pace and ball control are great and his ability to score a solo goal has saved his team a few times in the past. But he also has a great cross and we need that sort of player with Mori looking to play a major part from now on.

2. Juanito: I know it was only recently that his name was mentioned in conjunction with the reds but I've seen him a few times for Malaga and Spain and he looks very competant and has strong potential. Hyypia is not getting any younger so we need a replacement and I think this may be the one.

3. Wayne Bridge: I said on another thread that I wanted to get a player like Bridge to form a Pires/Cole-esque partnership with Riise. Can you imagine those two swapping round? Our left wing would be so strong and with this whole "Cole to Chelsea" thing going on, you never know.

4. Baraja: Ruben Baraja is still young and knows Rafa well. He would bring a wonderful option to centre-mid, and would allow Gerrard and Alonso to rest. A player learning his trade from Stevie, Xabi and Didi, would become so, so talented.

5. Anonymous Defender: Pellegrino won't be here long, Hyypia is nearing the end and IF we bought Juanito we would still be a bit fragile at the back, so I would like a young player to mould in JC's character.

Carson
Finnan Bridge
Juanito Carragher

Alonso Gerrard
SWP Riise
Baros Morientes

Subs: Baraja, Hyypia, Cisse, Garcia and Kirkland

So what do you think? Remember that this is only a bit of fun and I'm just sharing what my idea of a good and not totally unbelievable team would be. I'm not thinking about prices or other clubs or L4 or Stanley Park. Who would you have? Where would you put them? And why?

he plays for Real Betis though I believe.

No. It's Malaga. check out www.skysports.com. You're thinking of the winger that Chelsea want. They've got a few Juanitos in Spain

no the winger Chelsea want is Joaquin.

i have realised since making that post that their is a Juanito who plays centre half for Malaga as well as Betis, confusing or what?

Tell me about it. So, would Juaquin or Juanito be realistic possibilities that you would go for?

Juanito I think would be a good buy and a bit of Welsh bias but I like Danny Gabidon and reckon with the rifght manager would make a good buy

I would for now persevere with Riise and Kewell on the left flank and look to move Traore into the central area but he can cover in injury or rotation

Assuming SG stays I would bring Diarra back for next season t ease him in to relace Didi. Baraja is another option and if the price is right why not

SWP would be a great buy but at what price while we have Garcia and Nunez. If the board can afford it yes but not if its our only signing

The good news is Cisse coming back will be like a new signing and if we avoid the injuries weve had this season we can blood the likes of Pongo and Tallec properly.

I think it would be worth asking about Scot Parker as well even if SG stays

BAraja isn't young mate, he's 29 I think, it would be a case of Stevie and Xabi learning from him rather than the other way around

I have seen more of the Juanito from Betis, rather than the one from Malaga so not sure there.

Joaquin is an absolute gem, problay the best right winger in Spain already at such a young age. I would definately go for him, but I am not sure we could afford or attract him to come here anyway.

Vicente and Aimar are also names we have been linked with, who are both top top class players and I would love to see them at Anfield.

Juanito could be free as his contract is coming up this summer and Bridge? I still think we could get him on the cheap if Chelski go for Cole. Maybe around £4m but that is very debatable.

Why keep Riise on the wing? He's too one dimensional, yes he's scored six goals but he doesn't have the skill and the pace Duff and Robben have.

realistic, you must be joking. How would liverpool be able to prise away a chelsea first team regular? plus find extra money for aimar and downing who would no doubt cost over 10mil. Signing those three players would cost close to £40mil, plus your team only has ten players.

And as for your second team, robben on the right wing, ronaldhino as central midfielder, what exactly are you thinking. Your saying that if you had all the money in the world you would choose Carson as your first choice goalkeeper, a guy who has only played 3 first team games in his whole career, what a team.

I see that I've forgotten one player in the first squad. Add whoever the hell you want there. Chelsea could easily buy somebody better than Gallas, if that was to happen then we could perhaps snatch away Gallas.

Second team, I didn't feel like thinking about the formation and positions at the time. Why pick Carson? Couldn't think of anybody else at the moment.
