:( What is Henchoz on? Liverpool haven't come close in recent seasons to challenging United or Arsenal, difficult as it is to admit. We have quality players but they don't have the experience of winning regularly or of playing against the very best in Europe on a consistent basis. We were the best - please God one day we will be again but at the moment we are  not good enough to either win the Premeirship or challange the likes of Real Madrid in Europe. Seems our centre back has been influenced by Houllier's blindness to the fact that we are underachievers which is a disgrace for a club of our size and tradition.

GH can either look at Henchoz's comments possitively or negatively.  Positively it would indicate that Houllier has indeed assembled a premiership winning side and perhaps needs more time.  Negatively any idiot can buy and pick great players, getting them to play great football is another matter.  You choose which it is!

I think you have to look deeper at the comments made by Henchoz. I think he is having a cunning dig at GH and making people ask questions about the managers lack of motivation. After all, besides our lack of success recently we still have a reasonably good set of players (except for the few well documented failures!).
Henchoz was not happy having to wait for his place back in the team after injury and warched with some annoyance as GH pampered his love child, (Biscan!).
I think he is moving the goal post in the game of blame and simply saying to everyone - 'If we have got such a bunch of talented players as the manager keeps saying - why aren't we winning big competitions?
Could it be the manager and his tactics perhaps?

Yep oldredeyes thats the way I read it and its very cleaver because the questions don't just revolve around luck, if the squads there, then why are they failing. For those who cite injuries, I would remind everyone this current poor spell has be going on for over 14 months November 2002.  This is the second season in a row that our league form is below where it should be.
