Djimi traore - Good enough long term?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think he is young and prone to silly decisions (which can be helped with coaching), he does have good pace and that cannot be learned.

In conclusion I would say that he has the physical skill to be a good player, and he is young and will improve with experience. I think in a couple of years he may be very good.

Keep him for now ...monitor his development over the summer but actively search high and low for a more accomplished left-back.

he`s a centre half not a left back, and some centre halfs take years to reach their peak. he has all the natural attributes to become a excellent player but his decision making and reading of play at times is poor, but with good coaching and more experience i honestly see a gem in the making. before you bite my head off the flavour of the month seems to be jamie carragher who has improved beyond all recognition.
but i sat in the stands at anfield for years shaking my head in disbelief at carragher who looked like he couldnt even perform the basics like trapping the ball and passing it five yards at times. not just me, half the stadium would give him down the banks (which i dont agree with whoever the player is by the way coz if youre low on confidence someone constantly shouting you`re ****** at you exactly aint gonna help).
traore has a lot more natural gifts than carragher who managed to become one of the best centre halfs in the prem.
i agree some players are not good enough, but i look at traore and see an gifted athlete and if he learns that he isnt the greatest ball chewer and starts to play it simple he could be a excellent player. i`d certainly move a few other players out before him.

1.) i think traore's best position is full back. he cant deal with the responsibility of playing at cedtre half and so he is prone to f*ck ups when he does play there. At full back there is not as much pressure on him and he does quite well in defence.

I think hes worth keeping :)

Completely agree with that Stapo and with you St Mick, in that I can't make up my mind about him.

Some of his tackles this season have been superb but then he goes and scores one of the most inept own goals I have ever seen. A trick in his own six yard box, towards his own goal, on a god-awful surface? Unbelievable.

Supersub you talk about watching his development and again I agree with that but lets remember that although this guy is still young - we've had him for six years - how long do we wait for him to reach his full potential.

Deserves a bit more time for me, but some serious errors of judgement have left me decidely unsure.  :O

As for me , sometimes watching him playing as full back or center defender , he’s good but sometimes he played so bad until my grandma quote that she can played better than him .

Not a bad player but still trying to find his best postion as a full back he is poor beacuse he has no left foot so when he gets into a decent postion it takes im about half an hour to cross the ball by that time the attack has stopped.
But if he improves he still has alot of time he is still only a young lad
