Carson - Is he ready

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

For those who managed to see the game or highlights from last night against Charlton nearly saw Dudek make another howler by parrying a quite comfortable save into the path of Danny Murphy only to be tackled by the flying Traore. As for Charltons goal i would have to see it again but i believe a confident, quality keeper would have dealt with it, maybe i am being harsh but i just think he is a liability. Surley it is time soon to give Carson a run in nets as we need someone the fans and the defense can trust in.

As for the teams display i thought we were very impressive - Charlton over the years could be classed as a bogey team and we dominated both halves even when we were 1 down.

A comfortable save? Didn't look so easy to me, but it's easy to criticise from the comfort of your armchair isn't it?
He kept it out of the goal, and it went into the path of Traore. He had a good game otherwise, and he's been playing well since his error against Man UTD.
You think Carson is going to jump straight into the side at 19 and be the next Gordon Banks?

why, do you know he is not going to be, mistik meg.  The only way you will find out is by playing the lad. As for throwing him in the team, did we not throw Nando in a day after he arrived, ok he is older - more experienced, but he hasnt played in the english leagues, which on all accounts cannot be compared to the football he was playing in Spain.

I thought it was a hard save to make and the only mistake dudek made was not parrying the ball away from the attacker which wasn't easy given the power of the shot.
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,

They should ween him in, putting him in the deepend at such a critical position for the club could put him under too much pressure and damage his confidence, hes only played a handful of games for Leeds remember

well he had to pick the ball out of his own net 4 times in a reserve game last week so maybe he's not ready yet

Yes he let in four goals that no keeper could stop and prevented another 25 goals in that game. Good signing imo

Scott Carson, signed from a lower league club (hehe), small money, young player with little experience.
Morientes, signed from Real Madrid, big money, 3 Champions Leagues, last seasons top scorer in the competition.

I don't see the comparison.

Carson has been bought for the future. Baring injury i think it's highly unlikely he will start a game this season. This lad hardly played for Leeds and is still very inexperienced. I know Dudek hasn't inspired confidence but he hasn't been as bad as some would have us think. Also - How many young keepers out there get in and stay in a big team? Buffon, Cassilas, Seaman all came in at a young age and did the business but there are precious few around like that. Keepers are like wine, they get better with age. I would rather see Dudek (for the moment) between sticks and not a 19 year old with a handful of games to his name.

hmm that makes sense, send him on loan while if Dudek injures himself or has a few more howlers which is lets face is a high possibility, then we have our reserve keeper for the reserves to take the number 1 spot, as kirkland is forever injured and our reserve keeper has gone to leeds

1234ram you're an idiot. What happens when Dudek gets injured? Are you going to replace him? Think about things before you post them next time.

Chelsea wanted Carson and we beat them in the battle to get him. I expect Carson to be our goalkeeper next season, Dudek is way
too inconsistant. He gets beaten at his near post easily, he has the tendency to fumble the ball and doesn't look confident when the ball is crossed in the box.
