Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard insists Liverpool will qualify for the Champions League next season by claiming fourth place from rivals Everton.
Confident: Steven Gerrard
Gerrard, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea by various tabloids, has said: "We can reel them [Everton] back in. We're a better side than Everton in my opinion.
"There are 14 league games left. If we put a run together and beat them at Anfield I am sure we can finish above them.
"I think every league fixture between now and the end of the season is going to be a must win game. We can't afford to lose any more ground on Everton if we want to finish above them."
Gerrard believes the prospect of a Carling Cup final has boosted confidence around Anfield, saying: "We are certainly happier now than we were last week.
"We are in a cup final, still fighting for a top four finish in the Premiership and in the last 16 of the European Cup. If you look at the bigger picture it's not too bad.
"I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we would like things to be better but when so many changes are made at a football club things are going to take time.
"This is Liverpool, one of the biggest clubs in Europe, so when you lose three games in a week, you expect a bit of stick. We just take it on the chin, get on with it and do our best to ensure results improve."
Good to hear our captain sounding postive...
