Fernando Morientes is pure class ! - My review of the Watford game

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

The guy might not have scored in yesterday's match at Vicarage Road, but at least he has showed that he is starting to settle down.

He showed some tremendous talent on the ball and i'm sure that he will starting banging in goals very soon. He has all what we lacked during the past years.

I also noticed that the partnership in attack with Milan Baros is starting to work although i thought that the Czech Republic star was often forgotten on the right wing.

Our bad luck with injuries seems to continue with Florent Sinama-Pongolle joining the likes of Alonso, Kirkland....

I thought that we played very well yesterday. Steve Finnan's return from injury gave us some more options. Didi Hamman was fabulous in the middle of the pitch and the defensive work of Igor Biscan, allowed Steven Gerrard to push to a more offensive role.

Mauricio Pellegrino and Jamie Carragher were great at the back as well as Djimi Troare who provided some threats on the left side along with Arne Riise.

Afterall, Rafa Benitez has taken the team to a Cup Final with 8 months and we have every right to feel confident for the future.

Come on guys, lets build up for the 4th spot in the EPL from yesterday's victory.

We'll get there ! You'll never walk alone !

A great positive vibe MilanLFC.  A definate change from most of the gloom n doom that gets posted here.  If no1 has done it yet, a belated welcome to the forum.  Hopefully you'll be around for a long time

he will start scoring dont worry about that, he is a class act.  I think what last night showed was his fitness is improving all the time.  Just seemed to get stronger as the game went on.

Agree with Morientes his movement is spot on and its like watching a Dam about to burst.

I was quite pleased with Baros and maybe a game on the wing will enhance his play, making him realise the importance of support and passing as he had to adjust his role and coped well.

Its just waiting for the two of them to click

Morientes aas well has a good work ethic and Im hoping he is the catalyst and personality to bring the squad together.

Do you guys reckon that Baros is starting to play on the wing to get used to that position for when Cisse comes back into the fold?

Id love to see a Morientes - Cisse combo.

no it was only applied to win more of the 2nd balls.  I dont think Milan would be happy playing there on a permanent basis.

Totally impressd with Nando, not only did he show some world class forward play but a hunger to chase back and win the ball in midfield. At one point he chased back into the right back position and tackled.

As already stated Nando is what has been missing from our team for years. Jari nearly filled the role but didn't have the legs but i think Nando could be the man that can make the ball stick upfront for us and also share the goalscoring with Milan.

I've been impressed with Morientes since he signed - but I thought he was class when at Madrid & out on Loan
Just thought he was trying a bit too hard - with the spectacular efforts etc
But his control, passing, pulling defenders about was a joy to watch
Felt a bit sorry for Baros though
Almost struck me as the same scenario as Bellamy for Newcastle
A forward being played as a winger - come on, we've been here before
Havin said that - Baros never stopped trying & the boss's tactics won us the game - but to me - Baros did not look anywhere near as dangerous as when he's out and out striker

Morro although not 100% match fit yet looked a class above most on the pitch last night,he will be a suberb signing and i think as important to the team as Alonso, Gerrard and Carra.
