Questions to all houllier's apologists

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby mvasil555 » Thu Jan 29, 2004 3:09 pm

I 'd like to set some questions that i feel need to be answered regarding to the Frenchman's performence as coach of the once mightiest team in England and probably the world.

1.What is the status of the team now, compared to the time he took full charge of it? Better worse or just a joke?
2.Now that the five year plan has almost expired whithout success(Excluding the UEFA cup and some Worthingtons or Coka cola or What's their name cups), how long should anyone wait for seeing this team if not winning the premiership, playing some descent football at least ?
3.If Alex Fergiuson has waited 7 years before dominating the leage does anyone believe that miracles happen twice?
4.How many players GH has signed during theese years have performed better as Liverpool players than before?I beg you to name 3 of them.
5.Can anyone tell me why so many players are playing everywhere else but their normal position and thus underperforming(e.g. Diouf,Biscan,Traore,Henchoz,Kewell and many many more)?
6.Who does he(GH) think he is addressing to, bringing all these poor excuses for every failure and never taking the responsibility for these?Even 11 year old children would have seen through him by now.
7.Does he have more ''intimate'' relations with the club's board?
Noone else would have an eployee that sets his company back for that long and still pay him to do so.

Anyway, feel free to answer to the question above if you can figure out any answer at all.

Thanks for your time and please excuse any grammar mistake, for English isn't my native language.

1- The team is in about the same state as it was when GH took over.
2- Won't be waiting that much longer! (heres hoping anyhow)
3- No miracles only happen once (tht's why they are called miracles)
4- A few have, i'd say - Hamman, Hyppia, Henchoz have improved under Houllier - thats about all though!
5- Only GH can answer that one
6- I'm sure the children can see through him also. Everybody knows someone who (no matter what) never believes they are in the wrong - well i think GH is a bit like that.
7- Houlluier and Moores must be sleeping together - that's the only conclusion i can come to. And i reckon GH must be pretty good in the sack by the looks of things!

1. I really believe that we were close to becoming a midtable team under the Roy Evans era. Houllier got us on track, and helped us progress, but in summer 2002 things went wrong, his three signing did not improve us at all, and other teams over took us and the ones above us widened the gap.

2. The 5 year plan was a mistake, Houllier should never had said that publicaly. the cups we won should have been a platform to challange in the bigger competions, at first it looked as though this was happening, when we finished second with an impressive points total that would have won us the Premership in other seasons, and also go to the quarter finals of the Champions League. I hope Houllier is here next season and can get us back on track.

3.It was not a miracle.

4.?

5. This is a problem, I could understand if we had a policy of a small versitile squad(which I believe in), but we have a big squad. Sometime players have to play out of poistion due to injuries and suspensions, but it should not be a regular practice.

6. I also prefare a manager who tells it how it is, but I respect his style of dealing with it, but sometimes he should critcise our performances more, and just say we dersrved to lose.

7. Consistency is important, Moores has stuck by Houllier and I applud him. Choping and changing is no good. But there is a question in the air as to whether we need a change, but not just for the sake of it, but Moores must ask him self whether Houllier can help us progress.

1.  The status has changed, This is due to time, the failure of Souness, Evans and now Houllier has made it easier for teams to come to Anfield and beat us. We can't blame all of this on Houllier but he certainly has'nt stemmed the flow.  We were once invincible at Anfield now every team fancies their chances.

2. Houllier is an idiot and am attempting to say this without emotions clouding my veiw.  Houllier should have had the intelligence not to make rash promises, truthis had he not said those foolish words no one could be now trying to hold him to them.  Some may still well be unhappy but I doubt as many people would be unhappy.  Any politician, Solicitor,Teacher,Coach, Manager knows not to predict the future leave that rubbish to Mystic Meg.
3. Alex Fergusons success was not a miracle, his rebuilding programme was much more evolved than anything Houllier is trying to do.  Ferggie  Was not only charged with rebuilding a team but also a club.  A club that was one of the biggest sleeping giants in world football.  This man is a great manager even though as a manager he gets up my nose.  ( I've met Alex ferguson on several occassions and each time he has been a true gentleman but I'll tell you this I would 'nt play poker with him). You do football a huge diservice by comparing ferggie with Houllier.  Ok its not as bad as comparing Houllier with Bill Shankly  But still!

4. In fairness to Houllier.  Hypia, Henchoz and Hamann triple H.  They have all acheived more at Liverpool than at any other club, thats why they came and that's why they all want to stay!  So Scottbot is accurate.

5. Because GH has not got the level of knowledge to play them where they belong.  He purchased many of them because they were good quality footballers any idiot could do that.  He had'nt the tactical intelligence to match players being scouted to positions.  Thus we have Diouf a forward being played as a right mid.  Diao not being played, Biscan a holding Mid, played centre halve, Murphy roaming mid being played right, left centre mid.  Cheyrou roaming mid being played left right centre mid do I need go on.  How many roaming Mids does Houllier want.  Unless your extremely rich buy players to fit system not vice versa.  Real Madrid bought the best regardless of system many are either now on loan or are sold to Chelsea ect.

6  Himself.  GH cares about no one but himself, everyone else is an idiot  Hansen, Lawrenceson, St John, Barnes, Smith need I go on They are all idiots too.  He's also got a touch of paranio that is directed at Martin O'Neill.

COME ON JUST IMAGINE IT THE GUY YOU MET IN THE PUB WHO MANAGES THE LOCAL TEAM RINGS YOU TO COMPLAIN BECAUSE THE GUYS DOWN THE PUB SAY YOUR BETTER AT YOUR JOB THAN HE IS AND THEY WANT YOU TO COME MANAGE THEM!  YOUR BUSY GETTING SHARES IN YOUR CLUB, BREEZING BY EVERY TEAM ABOUT AND LIVING A STRESSFREE LIFE, YOUR EVEN THIMKING THAT YOU MIGHT START LOOKING FOR A CHEAP HOLIDAY IN APRIL AND LEAVE THE RESERVE TEAM MANAGER TO PUT HIS TEAM OUT.  WANT HIS JOB NOT BLOODY LIKELY!

7  David moores is stuck in acatch 22 situation dammed if he does dammed if he doesent.  Don't blame him blame Parry.  Forgive him and blame Houllier!

1.What is the status of the team now, compared to the time he took full charge of it? Better worse or just a joke?

Generally I think the team has better players in it , but also worse players in it. Houllier rebuilt the defence but dismantled the attack. Evans was blessed with Fowler and McManaman, Houllier inherited Fowler and McManaman and was also blessed with Owen and Gerrard. The results are no better than they were bar a few fortuitous cup wins

2.Now that the five year plan has almost expired whithout success(Excluding the UEFA cup and some Worthingtons or Coka cola or What's their name cups), how long should anyone wait for seeing this team if not winning the premiership, playing some descent football at least ?

I saw a list of longest serving managers in league football a few months ago and Houllier was about 11th (?) with Dario Gradi, Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger as longer serving managers. He had five years and hasn't made a proper challenge for the Premiership so I think we either settle for being a top five club and winning trophies or get a new manager

3.If Alex Fergiuson has waited 7 years before dominating the leage does anyone believe that miracles happen twice?

How long did it take Wenger to win the league? Ferguson was given ages by a team that hadn't won the league for a gloriously long 27 years or so - Houllier took over only EIGHT years after we last won the league.

4.How many players GH has signed during theese years have performed better as Liverpool players than before?I beg you to name 3 of them.

Difficult to answer having not followed closely the careers of players like Hyypia before joining Liverpool. I would suggest Hamann possibly, with Hyypia and Henchoz also in the frame

5.Can anyone tell me why so many players are playing everywhere else but their normal position and thus underperforming(e.g. Diouf,Biscan,Traore,Henchoz,Kewell and many many more)?

I have heard Houllier praised for being a master tactician yet have failed to see it. Funnily enough we haven't turned round a half-time deficit since 1999 - some tactical genius!!!!

6.Who does he(GH) think he is addressing to, bringing all these poor excuses for every failure and never taking the responsibility for these?Even 11 year old children would have seen through him by now.

He is to some degree right, but he should shoulder the responsibility himself.

Injuries - were not good this season but why are the reserves not good enough?

Luck - true enough, but every team has bad and good luck. Bemoaning every piece of bad luck is not looking at the whole picture.

7.Does he have more ''intimate'' relations with the club's board?

Blind faith is not uncommon, even fans on here show that to Houllier, a player or something else to which they have a deep loyalty. Maybe he is tending to the needs of the board at an intimate level........
