Terry Pratchett once wrote "rumour can circle the world, before the truth has got it's boots on" and it has never held greater meaning than now. Since the appointment of Benitez I heard everything from:

1. We'd get Ayala for free
2. We'd also get Baraja, Aimar, Davids, Mexes and a lot more
3. Steve Morgan would hand over £70m for Rafa to spend in January.

to the rediculous:

1. A Venezualan Multi Billionaire was going to buy the Reds
2. Zidane and Figo were going to be used in the Owen transfer
3. We lodged a £25m bid for Rooney

None of these have come true, but what I find more worrying is that these stories seem to have no sources whatsoever. This thing about Gerrard's £40m transfer to Real is a prime example. There is no evidence and barely any heresay even from the tabloids. When one of these appears on this site or any other, we all get riled up, start slagging off an individual who has given so much to the club, and then hurl accusations all over the place. Why do we do this? Would it not be better and more productive to talk about the real issues surrounding the club.

We even talk about unsubstanciated stories involving other clubs, like Roman Abramovic's deportation which was not reported in any of the reliable media sources. It doesn't concern us, even if it is true, but no-one else seemed to know about it. Not even Chelski fans.

Would this site not be far better, if we debated REAL stories and threads that concern Liverpool football club's REAL issues?

I would like to see us discuss relevant issues such as our struggle for fourth place, our effort to sign realistic, quality players, decisions on and off the field. And, I would be even more interested to find out what your opinions are on the relevant issues.

Heck, I'd like to hear what you have to say about this. But when a friend of a friend of a friend meets some guy in the pub and tells you that Ronaldinho will be joining in the off season, why not try and find a justifiable source. That's all I ask.

new rule on this site should be that people cant post their disgust at others speculating or discussing rumours. its entertaining isn't it. i dont care if people abuse the sh1t out of me for saying that cos thats wat i think. you dont have to believe anything and everything you read on this site anyway. anyway the rumours about gerrard werte bound to start again when we hit poor form

Weren’t we meant to sign Anelka and Aimar today! I too get a little peeved with these bizarre rumours.
Have to say at the time it is quite exciting, but ends up being a pain and a let down, or maybe just a dream.

yeah, that last one was like that stupid rumour about us selling one of the twelve players to score over a hundred prem goals, being a young player of the world, scoring one of the greatest ever goals for his country for which he has over fifty caps for the meesley, near-useless sum of £8m and a b-team waste of space.

Well just think what we could use that £8m for. We could probably launch a takeover bid for everton !!! That way we get James Beattie and Lee Carsley for pretty cheap.
