Another promising youngster may be leaving Elland Road to join the Rafalution at Anfield this month.

Simon Walton, a 17-year-old midfielder has interested a number of clubs across the country with his performances so far this season. This caused Rafael Benitez to instruct his people to keep a close eye on the youngster's further development.

Walton is valued between 250,000 and one million pounds and Liverpool may be tempted to strike a deal for him while the transfer iron between both clubs is hot.

The youngster has featured in 16 Championship matches already this season and made his professional debut in a pre-season friendly against Valencia according to leedsunited.com.

He signed his first professional contract, which runs till the end of the 2006/2007 season, with the club at the start of this season.

Although he began life in the Academy as a centre-half, his conversion to midfield has been a success. He is seen as a tough tackling midfielder which could make him a good partner in midfield for the likes of Steven Gerrard and John Welsh (who signed a contract extension earlier this week)
