We're already looking mid-table WITH Michael Owen. For all these injury excuses he has still netted 8 goals this season. I think the problem is more general, who scores when Owen doesn't and the defence leaking a few too many goals. Kewell has started well and scored a fair few goals, but still the results aren't coming. I don't subscribe to the theory that we will improve dramatically now the "injury crisis" is over, we weren't worldbeaters before so I don't see why we would be now. Even with a relatively injury free season last year, we still finished fifth behind Newcastle and Chelsea (and obviously Arsenal and manu). The only significant difference is we now have Kewell.

i agree. Things will get better now that injured players are coming back and GH is quote "getting back to basics aka keep it tight at the back, hoof it and hope a bit of individual brilliance from Mikey or Harry will steal us le odd goal" but i dont see us suddenly become world beaters.

I think if Liverpool actually did get back to basics (tighten defence, don't give the ball away easily, try and pass into space etc. you know, junior stuff that they aren't doing much of) they would become a much stronger side.

We have been passing into space for last 3 years! i wanna see a team that passes to feet 80% of the time and passes into space when it's appropriate and not every other ball.

I agree with you, although Houllier has identified this problem and commented on less long balls. Do our players possess the skills to play the passing game....hmmm, debatable.

Guys Owen is a brillaint footballer, he needs someone who can bring out his best Houllier is not that person.  Less than two years ago it was difficult to judge who was best between Owen, RVN and Henri.  Today they're streets ahead of Michael. Who's to blame? certainly not Michael.  I think almost as much of this young man as I do of any other Liverpool Player, given the right manager he, Gerrard, Carragher, Pongolle, Kirkland and a few others could write their names into the anals of Liverpool history.  We're rubbish because GH is rubbish nothing to do with the players.  If you hire a blind man to watch your back its not his fault if someone stabs you in the stomach.
