When gerrard was made captain, everyone was saying what a great move that was, and why it didn't happen earlier. There was even a talk of gerrard being the future captain of england.

If he plays with his heart, gerrard is the best captain we can have at this moment..... It looks like (for me), his heart is somewhere...... so blaming houllier on giving him the captain....is bull. No matter how talented a player is, if his heart isn't in it, he is useless..

at this moment, i will give gerrard the benefit of doubt and blame it on his "so called" injury.

Sorry again for relating it back to Basketball, but this sounds like what happened exactly in toronto Vince Carter was playing with a supposed injury and then after for so long wanted to be traded. After he was traded, he started playing a hell of alot better, and after he playes for a few games he makes a statement saying he wasnt trying his hardest for the last few months.

Before he was captain he played for thie club with heart and gusto everytime he donned the shirt. Since we put a mountain on his shoulders from a young age, and burdened him with the captaincy, he hasnt enjoyed his football, and looks like he dispises the club for giving him such weight on his shoulders. You obviously love Houllier, and although he brought some silverware back to our cabinet, he did still make some bad plays. This particular one looking back, was a wrong move by Houllier.

This shows, you have not been in this forum for too long....

Just ask the old birds how much i hate houllier.......

In fact if i see him now,

But i don't know how you can come up with all this sh1t about gerrard hating to be the captain of LFC. Are you his "best friend" ? are you his shrink ?

Gerrard played 30-50% better when he was made the captain. Just look at how he ended last season & how he started this season.

He was single-handedly bailing us out time & again.

Now compare that with the last few games ???

Like i said, i don't watch too many oliver stone movies and am willing to give gerrard the benefit of the doubt that he is carrying an injury. Nuff said.

If i sound too harsh then i apologise. I am fcuking ****** of the last few games.

I never said that he hated being the captain of the club, all i said is that he obviously seems to be distressed about the situation. Myself, as a coach, would have never put a young lad in that position, and that's why i think it was a bad move for Houllier at the time.
Gerrard is a champion player going through a bad patch. Sure he has lifted us through some tough times this and last season, but that was down to his class, not leadership. The players see how much he lifts, and then act upon it. They react, not act. And that is our major problem.
If you look at out and out leaders on the park, you cant go past Carra, Alonso and Hypiia. It was wrong to put a young man from Liverpool in a position of captain, simply because he was not mature enough as a player yet to develop those skills. Im not saying he is a bad person because of it, im simply making an observation from the last few seasons he has played us.
Another thing, before he was made captain, you never heard him saying how he wanted to leave the club, now with all the added pressure the position Houllier put him in, he needs guidance and help, and is looking for the easy way out.
Thats why it was wrong for Houllier to do what he did. He was only looking for brownie points with the fans.

30-40% better when he was made captain?? sure, for a few games. And it is due to the fact that the club puts so much emphasis on the boy, he would still be the same player even if he didnt have the captaincy. Under Hypiia he was a great player too, dont forget that, and often got us out of trouble back then too. Short memory.
