Lfc new fan - Aussies' love football too

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Hi, I am a Harry Kewell Fan from australia, and since now Harry is playing for LFC you have inherited me as a fan. Although I did grow up in the eighties and like all good aussie boys, I barracked for Liverpool and Craig Johnston.

Reading your posts I see that I am not alone in thinking that our team lacks fluidity, when I watch chelsea or arsenal play, I am thinking geez, why arent we doing triangles and short passing like them?

Watching the first two games carefully, I have noticed that on counter attack, or a push forward,
that the team stalls holding the ball up,
then gets stuck on the defence. This disheartens me as I know players like Owens, Diouf, Kewell, Gerrard have the skill for quick one touch passes, hopefully as they gain more experience playing together they will sort this out.

I see a few of you mentioned that Harry is playing right midfield and what the hell is GH thinking, I am sorry to say that Harry thinks (possibly wrongly) the right is his preferred side. Halfway through the first half Harry and Diouf switched sides, it didnt seem to help. They even swapped for a very short time during the second half, then switched back. I was guessing, to myself, that Houlier was succumbing to Harry's request to play on the right, then switching him to the left to see if he performed better, or to point out to Harry that he was better on the left. Personally, I don't think it really matters, they just need to get some quality shortpassing in.

I agree, Emile Hesky isnt performing well enough for a starting poisition in any EPL team. Is it too late for LFC to buy Mark Viduka? Or Trade Emile and another player for Mark with Leeds.

Diouf is a great player, like most african players his style isnt suited to European Football, you'd need to stock the whole team with Africans. That being said, it would be wonderful to see the other players garner some understanding with him.

Owens isnt overated, well us aussies rarely hear of him unlike beckham, I would like to see him one two with Harry. His leads are worldclass, he just needs worldclass throughballs, and no I dont mean length of the pitch Longballs.

Lastly, I'd like to apologize for the way Harry played against Villa, I promise he'll be much better Tottenham on the 27th, I'll be up late watching on my TV, wave to me :)

:D
Football is a simple game, all you have to do is pass the ball to a player in a red shirt.

you know what it would be wonderful if Viduka comes over..he's world class but as long as Hou still around he's better stay with Leeds or else he will look just normal like other mediocre players..u can see that with Kewell already.....

GH is really starting to annoy me. How dare he say that we played good against Villa away? When the hell did anyone start comparing us to Villa? We should not even be in the same league! Absolutely pathetic!
GH used to at least look like he was half interested before his heart troubles. I suspect football is hardly up there these days for him as a prioirty. He took on huge risks by buying unknown/unproven players back when everyone else was investing money hoping for a big payoff.  It didnt work! It is as much the board's fault for accepting GH's ways, as it is his fault for the way he is ruining Liverpool.
Even the Liverpoolfc.tv website has nothig bad to say about any of this. This is the only place I found where there seems to be any voice against him. Even media outlets seem like they couldnt care less about us anymore. We're not a force like we used to be. We peaked and won the treble of Cups and its been downhill since.
I pitty players like Owen and Gerrard who have no support and have lost their edge cos of it. After all the talk last year about our impotent midfield, nothing was done about it in the off-season. We gonna pay heavily for this and GH will be yet another incompetent manager who will get paid out his contract, whilst we supporters sit back and lament this tragedy. Shame...

I couldn't agree more with the fan who is questioning GH's ability to manage a glorious club like LFC.

GH has managed to turn LFC into a laughing stock, great players move to clubs to add value to their potential until they come to LFC only to be turned into ordinary Joe Bloggs.

Football is a beautiful and a sipmle game, GH has turned ii into a ponderous bore, I used to be fuul of hope whoever LFC plays not any more. The board had better realise that until he leaves this season will be our worst, they should act decisively and swiftly b4 long. My preference is Kevin Keegan, then again Daglish will be a dream choice. The fans are desperate to see the kop fly again

Living in aus I dont get much of your media, and until I came onto this board I didnt realize the problem with the team probably laid with the manager.

Is this the only place where doubts about Houllier are expressed? ie do they mention anything on the football chat shows, or other media.
I hear during the football commentary that Hoddle is favourite to get the sack, and sometimes, quite frankly, I ponder at why it is the manager who is always blamed for poor performance and the players are held in high esteem.

However on this board you state the reasons why Houllier is managing badly, and not just blame him for the poor performance, which is a good thing and helps a new fan understand what is going on as well.

Who is the Chairman of the board? What is he saying? Ultimately its up to them (the board), and I get absolutely no news about them at all.

The Liverpool board,as history will show, have always stood by their manager. That is all except Souness, who took us backwards in leaps and bounds.Even then it took 3 years of misery before he finally got the push.I think GH will be given this season to prove he has the team to finally look as though they can make a real effort to break the Arsenal/Man u stangle-hold.If he fails he will either call it a day or get the bullet.
THERE'S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW SHINING AT THE END OF EVERY DAY.
THERE'S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW AND TOMORROW IS JUST A DREAM AWAY.
