Luis garcia - Whats the problem

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Kopboyau » Wed Jan 19, 2005 10:26 pm

What is all the negative talk on this forum regarding Luis Garcia. The guy has only begun to play EPL this year and will take time to settle in.

Lets look at a similar example Christiano Ronaldo, Season 1 for Manure he was brilliant in patches but in general a ball hog and looked to shoot and score where passing the ball would be the best option. Yet under the guidance of Ferguson he has become a better team player, still brilliant at times but now after all his fancy footwork he begins to look at what he can then do.

Same goes for Luis I am sure that under the watchful eye of Mr Beneitz he will become a better player. So lets not crucify the man before he has actually begun his Kop career.

And let Rafa do what he wants, just remember Rome wasn't built in a day.

This sort of thread has already been made, see "Garcia is *****".

Robert Pires was quite poor for Arsenal during his first season or so at Arsenal but look at the player he is now. There is a reason why Benitez signed Garcia, Garcia needs to pick himself up score more goals and get on with it.

Garcia, absolute ******, to light weight, scared to get hurt, can't pass, blazes shots over the bar, keeps turning into the defenders and no pace,  he's the most enoying player to watch and he does my head in. What does he offer to the team? (Alonso & Morientes no problem)

He has offered 5 goals to the team so far. 7 if you count the two wrongly disallowed goals.

People have no clue if thay say Garcia is ******. He has just returned from a long injury spell and only recently moved to Liverpool. Give him time. He can play at a very high pace and has good ball control. This lad can become awesome.

I agree. I think with time he can be an effective player, on his good day he brings creativity to the squad.

the main criticism of garcia is regarding his lack of application and whether he is a "luxury" we can afford. at this point in time, i don't even think he warrants a place in the side. his finishing is poor at times, but it's a joy to see him getting into the box and into such great positions. the fact is, players who don't get into the positions escape criticism, as there is nothing 'apparent' to criticise. :)

And supposedly you know what you're talking about? Pires was poor at first but with time he has become a world class player. Garcia may be lightweight at the moment but he can still improve.

Once again I remaind you that he has scored 5 goals, he scored 2 goals after recovering from his injury. He has lost confidence and I think he needs to get himself together. Under Rafa he will become a better player otherwise what would be the point of signing him. Garcia has played under Benitez before so there must be something   that Garcia has to offer to the squad.

I agree sometimes he looks for the perfect finish like against Charlton when a simple tap in would be fine but once again I think he can improve as a player like Baros has under Rafa thus far.

No doubting Garcia's ability however he has been a very frustrating player to watch in recent games .Somebody used the word "wasteful" to describe his recent  performances ,I think that perfectly describes his form at the moment. Fingers crossed Rafa has a word and gets him back to his best.

It might be prudent to remember how long we have given a certain Vlad Smicer to show what he can do - honestly I for one think the jury is still out on him.  Again, flashes of brilliance, he might play the simple ball a bit better now - but how long have the team carried him ???

Far to early to be talking about Garcia being binned.
I take the point about at this particular time in the season - do we need more of a work horse to do the bread and butter stuff - and dig in a bit when games are tight - but I'm definitely a fan of Garcia in the VERY SHORT PERIOD WE HAVE SEEN HIM PLAY FOR LIVERPOOL

Thing is with Garcia at Barca he had fantastic players around him, not some of the mediocre we have at our club :glare: so he probably didnt play or look that bad there, whereas hes being made a bit of a scape goat cause of some of our under performing players, and getting noticed more.
He will come good once he gets used to the prem a bit more and played in his correct position, how many players have we seen  play poor out of position at our club?
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.
