i am pretty desperate for a right winger......

1)as long as he has pace
2)Can cross
3)can take on defenders
4)can score goal.

we should sign him......

I have seen Andy Reid play quite a lot (being an out-of-towner from Dublin) as I go to every home and some away Ireland games, when he's on form he's pure quality, have only seen him play badly once (away v Switzerland, though the whole team had an off day). If we could get him ahead of Spurs and Everton he would be a useful addition to the starting 11.

I don't know about andy reid....we need someone who I know can play well in the premierleague

Wayne Routledge can be 1 of them. heard he is a scouser too.

SWP will be my 1st choice and i read somewhere that spurs put in 17 million pound bid for him

Pennant can also do.....

Would be happy with any of the above players.

It has become obvious that good wide men would go a long way to creating alot more chances for us to win more games.

Although I do admit there are other more pressing problems such as our lack of depth, poor reserve/youth team and the general mediocre level of most of the squad.

You see all top three team in the PL create space in central areas for their midfielders by their wide men pulling defenders apart..Henry, Pires, Ljungberg at Arsenal, Robben/Duff at chelscum and Ronaldo, Giggs, Fletcher at the Scum. It not only creates goals from crosses and cut-backs on the flanks it also creates openings for the more central midfielders to feed the strikers and get shots on goal.

How many times have we failed to even get a shot on target this season..defences are finding it very easy to play against us due to our lack of diversity in our attacking approach.

I think SWP, Vicente may be a bridge too far for us financially. I'm hoping that Kewell finds his form again and we can perhaps put in a bid for Wesley Sneijder of Ajax..fast, creative and has great delivery. I don't think Nunez has enough quality in the long run and Garcia is not a wide man in the true sense of the word.

the improvements are being made and i dont think our current squad would have made it in the fa cup, it is alreay a bi thin becuase of injuries

Good post Leon.

I was thinking about the 12 defeats myself last night, not hugely encouraging, is it?

The dust is now settling on Benitez' start to his Anfield career, and there have been plus points and negative ones.

He hasn't been brilliant, but he hasn't been dreadful, either.

Time will tell how he will fare, but there are some good omens.

As I posted in one of the crazy knee jerk threads last night, the sad reality is that we are currently stuck in a cycle of battling it out for 4th place every year. Thats not going to change over night, and Benitez will need time to forge a break through side like Wenger did in 1998 (Wenger did it quickly, but had a terrific defence to build on). This could take a couple of years, and we will have to bear with him until then. There's going to be no dramatic change in our league position over the next 30 months or so (i.e. I doubt will even finish 2nd in the next season or two) but unless there's a flood of money by way of a big investment, we'll just have to be patient.

People can be impatient all the want like they were last night, but that amounts to throwing the toys out of the pram as the simple fact of the matter is, he don't have £50million to spend on players next summer.

The defeats are a clear indication of the slight gulf in the class difference between some of the players in our side and those players of the teams presently above us in the league. although I suspect Everton are there on their additional level of pure endeavour and teamwork, that we currently lack. The hope is that we can bridge this gap with some astute purchases. The pity is that we can not do more about it, during this current transfer window.
