apparently he has a broken leg which is mending slowly.

from http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/3971639.stm

Liverpool have said Cisse will be out of action for the rest of the season, but Martin claims that an end-of-season return is not out of the question for the Frenchman.

"If everything goes to plan then five months out is not an unrealistic target," he added.

"But if the bones don't start to heal properly then it could potentially be this time next year. And unfortunately there is a chance that it's a career-ending injury.

"Nine times out of 10 players come back without any long-term problem, but unfortunately there is a minority of cases where that doesn't happen.

"He's going to have to work very hard before he can get back on a football pitch."

thats a old report , the latest is that he had a infection in the leg and it has been a bit of a set back for him . some still say he might never return to this level of football again .
it was bad break and this type can end a players career.
by the way that was on radoi five live 2 weeks ago  when they had Ian rush on there.

If Cisse was unable to play again anybody have any idea regarding the insurance situation ? I'm assuming LFC have insured our £14 million investment against something like this .

seriously hope cisse gets over his injury cos rafa has the skills to mould him into a world class player, as shown by riises renewed form and kewell finding some form, plus our more attacking play suits ciises pace and skill!

fingers crossed he gets better, at least he better be learning the language and buying a house to settle into now so that if and when he comes back hes raring to go

its the psychological scars as well, especially for foriegners.
they already think our league`s a bit like rollerball without the motorbikes so even if he does recover physically i wouldnt expect him to go flying in to any 50 / 50`s for a good while.
the pity is when he started to drift out wide to find enough room to get in to top gear he was starting to look very, very pacy.
